My name is Elizabeth Hadley and this is my story.

On august,29/2009 I was attending a party at Bragg creek with my boyfriend at the time. He got jealous and aggressive which led to him stealing my car, I Contacted the RCMP and informed them that he had taken my car without my permission and was advised that they were sending out a unit and I was to meet them. The party was held at my friends rental property where he worked at the time. I proceeded to walk down the dirt road towards the highway expecting to meet up with the RCMP. I noticed a truck coming towards me and it slowed down and a man asked me if I needed a ride, he also offered me a cigarette and he seemed genuine so I proceeded to get in his truck he then went for the dash to get me a cigarette which I proceeded to light, out of the corner of my eye I saw a fist heading towards me. I woke up later with my body wrapped around a pole. I don't recall exactly what happened but I knew I was hurt. I walked down the highway and nobody stopped, I then proceeded to a traffic circle and walked in front of a car thinking that if I was hit at least someone would know where I was. The lady in the car called 911 and i was taken to Sheldon churmir hospital in Calgary, Alberta where they determined that I had been sexually assaulted and my lower back had been fractured. They also determined using a black light that I had finger prints on my arms. After I was released I went to the RCMP and gave a statement of all that I could remember.

I had a very hard time dealing with the fact that I had been sexually assaulted and I tried to cope with this by drinking. I was never contacted by the RCMP after I gave them my statement. I did call CCASA several times to try to get help around what had happened. I applied for a financial aid and was denied on the grounds that it had been over two years since I had been assaulted and I was no longer eligible.I feel this is wrong and hope to change this for everyone so that people who have gone through what I've gone through might not have to go through quite as much as I've gone through

Here are the laws which I am fighting against.

12.2(1) An application under section 12 may be made only if the

offence was reported to a police service within a reasonable period

of time after the date the victim first knew or in the circumstances

ought to have known that the offence occurred.

(1.1) An application under section 12.1 may be made only if the

offence was reported to a police service within a reasonable period

of time after the offence occurred.

(2) Subject to section 12.3, an application under section 12 or 12.1

must be made

(a) within 2 years after the date on which the victim or

applicant, as the case may be, first knew, or in the

circumstances ought to have known, that the offence

occurred

I would appreciate all the support and signatures I can get so please sign and I appreciate even the slightest bit of support.

Thank You

I am currently organizing the statements and evidence to present to the detachment commander. Call your local representative today to demand a full review of how they handle sexual assault reports.

The momentum behind this campaign proves that people are finally ready to confront how these cases are ignored. Take this link and text it to three people in your contacts right now to keep the pressure mounting. We need to force a response from officials who refused to listen the first time.

The way the police handled this is just wrong. Nobody should have to go through what you did. Hope you get justice soon.

I was brutally raped by a boyfriend. He grabbed my son 2 at the time smashed his head off the door frame and threw him into his room. Ten proceeded to brutally rape me. My crying and screaming made him say "you are making this really hard to enjoy myself!" I just prayed my son wouldn't come out of his room. He was given 18 months in jail. When he got releAsed he raped another girl and almost killed her. I testified against him and deemed him one of the first dangerous offenders in a sexual assault crimes. Very difficult times. The govnt gave me a cheque for $1200 not near enough to get me through the year of inibility to leave my home and still I can't sleep through the night . I worry he is going to kill me when he is released. Nothing can give me back what I lost that day. I'm never going to be the same.
