On February 19th, the House of Representatives passed a Continuing Appropriations 2011 (H.R. 1); Representative Michael R. Pence (R-IN) proposed an amendment to stop all federal funding for Planned Parenthood. It is already forbidden for the federal government to fund its abortion services, so this amendment would strip funding for contraception, medication, HIV testing, and fertility treatments, among many other crucial public health programs and services. Representative Pence’s amendment passed by a vote of 240-185 in the House. Now is the time to tell your senators to vote against (H.R. 1)!
We are the executive board of the club ACLU@NYU and as students and young people we are disappointed with Washington cutting programs that we value. We are going to band together to make sure these program cuts do not pass the Senate.
I have been spendng this entire week crafting letters to Senate offices to ensure they understand exactly what these funding cuts would mean for my classmates. Your signatures are providing the leverage we need to demand their attention during these high-stakes negotiations.

Seeing this momentum grow proves that our generation refuses to sit quietly while essential health services are put at risk. This response shows that so many people are just as worried about the future of these clinics as I am.

Don't take away these services. They do way more than just abortion and everyone knows it.
