Students Deserve Better: Fix Enrollment and the Website

I agree, the website is not suitable for students

I was unfairly treated during my enrollment. I only got the slots I didn't select and the balance after others selected. The worse is when I didn't get through my Contract 2, my credits was lower then others in my batch and the classes I selected was taken by others. I understand the system in MMU and iI truly respect it, but what about my situation where I didn't get the class timing and slots I wanted? I suggest to allow students to lock their preferred classes so that there is no unfairness.

Even if we have not completed certain subjects, that should not justify an unfair enrollment system. We paid for pre-course enrollment in good faith, yet many of us are still placed in classes we did not prefer. This defeats the purpose of early enrollment and is simply not fair to students who plan ahead

For a “Multimedia” university, MMU’s enrolment system continues to be a disappointment — unreliable, unfair, and outdated. This semester yet again highlighted serious flaws that disadvantage students and show how little thought goes into planning. Unfair Restrictions: Students who failed a prior-year subject were blocked from enrolling, even though that subject had no connection to the current semester. This makes no sense. Enrolment should be based on current eligibility, not irrelevant past failures. Why should a student who failed one unrelated subject be penalised while their peers freely choose subjects and schedules? The system should automatically separate pre-requisite subjects from non-related ones so students can still enrol in everything else on time. System Errors: The “credit limit exceeded” bug once again prevented students from enrolling at all. By the time the issue was fixed, the better time slots were already taken. This is not the first time — it happens every semester. If MMU is serious about fixing this, it needs to: Stress-test the system before enrolment week to prevent downtime. Introduce a backup enrolment portal (mirror system) in case of crashes. Allow provisional enrolment — if the system fails, students can still lock in their classes, and adjustments can be synced later once the system stabilises. Unreasonable Timing: Enrolment was scheduled on a weekday during Legal Attachment, when most students are working full-time. This shows a complete lack of awareness. If MMU truly cared, it would: Schedule enrolment on weekends or after office hours so interns don’t need to beg supervisors for time off. Open enrolment in stages (morning, afternoon, evening windows) so not everyone is forced to rush at the same time, reducing system crashes. Transparency & Fairness: Right now, students only know about problems when they hit them. MMU should: Publish a live system status page so students can see if issues are bei

The current enrollment system is not only inefficient but also unfair, leaving students disadvantaged through no fault of their own. A university is meant to be a place that empowers students, not one that punishes them with an unreliable system and arbitrary enrollment periods. We believe the administration must recognize that these concerns are real, valid, and pressing. Every student’s voice matters, and it is the responsibility of the university to ensure that those voices are not ignored but seriously considered in policymaking and system improvements. We need a better, more transparent, and more reliable system one that respects students’ rights to fair access, supports their academic planning, and preserves the learning environments they have worked hard to build. Most importantly, the enrollment platform itself must be stable, efficient, and reflective of the high standards expected of an institution that prides itself on technology and education. In the interest of current and future students, we strongly urge the administration to take these concerns as a call to action. Reform is not only necessary, it is long overdue.
