It’s kind of a waste of class time to have to go all the way downstairs to the first floor, JUST to go to the bathroom! We need the bathrooms open for all!!!

My niece attends NMHS. She came home the other day upset that she basically has to hold it all day because teachers are getting irritated that they have to go all the way down to the first floor to use the toilet, but not only that she is afraid she will miss important information. This has to be solved somehow! I understand that the vaping and drug use is an issue because she tells me she hates to go in there with people doing that out of fear she will get into trouble for something she is not partaking in. But if you had a bathroom open on each floor and stuck a security guard there (yup hire more security) maybe this issue could be solved! unless you want to start paying for drs visits and medication for UTI’s I suggest you figure out an alternative solution.

I understand from a student that Brookfield HS does not have this issue because the school strongly punishes the students who are breaking the rules/law. Including police enforcement. Perhaps there should be some discussion with schools who are managing this in a more humanitarian way that is not posing health issues and school disruptions.

Sounds like NMHS is about to have a law suit on their hands!!! I'm a 33yr old grown woman with 3 children of my own. IF ANYONE took away my childrens' BASIC HUMAN RIGHT to use the BATHROOM, or made it Extreamly difficult for them to use the BATHROOM (as if it is some sort of Privilege), I'm telling you right now, it would go down. And it would get VERY Ugly for those Administrators whom implicated this new rule.

I’m an incoming 9th grader for next year, and I really don’t want to have to deal with this. My sister always comes home and complains about the missed time in her AP classes. The bathrooms in the middle school are bad enough! I was always told that in high school, we would have much more freedom, but it’s even more of a prison...

Public buildings such as this are specifically designed with a certain number of bathrooms to accommodate the number of people in the building. By forcing the entire school to use only certain bathrooms, those facilities are not meant to accommodate such traffic. Maintenance and hygiene will become serious issues. This seems like a lazy solution to a problem. Do better NMHS, and let these people use whatever bathroom they like.

This policy should be changed. Not only is it unfair to students who follow the rules and disruptive to the students’ learning but constraining their use of the bathroom could have long-term effects on their health. Right now, the vapers are calling the shots, it seems. Where are the grownups?

The analogy is especially stupid being that no one is at the mall for 8 hours
