In the city of Irvine California the students of the University are plagued with trouble to find a place to keep their cars. Specifically, students living in apartments near the university have more cars than are allowed to be parked in the apartment complex. This is due to high rent costs which leads to addition of more roommates to try to counter balance the cost. We propose opening up public streets for public parking being that there is plenty of room for cars to drive. This would allow for students to be able to park their cars near their apartments without the risk of being towed or ticketed which is not affordable on most student incomes.
The petition reached 100 signatures this morning. I am now compiling these concerns into a formal report to submit to the Irvine City Council during the next public comment period.

getting towed is the worst. i can barely pay my rent as it is without some massive ticket on top of it. fix this already.

Please address this. Its stressful coming home from a long day of classes and driving around for 30 mins looking for a space.

Seriously it is impossible to find a spot after 7pm. half the streets are completely empty anyway just let us park there!
