Please keep the sailing club. It is one of the many reasons my wife and I chose to live in Pointe-Claire 38 years ago.

Preserve the access and accessibility to the club. I once lived in Pointe Claire and always find that portion of the landmark unique - keep it that way

I have been a member of the Venture Sailing Club for almost 20 years. I learned more about sailing, and the wind, and the lakeshore, and wildlife, and nature, and about Pointe Claire the village during this time. I have longed to live along the shore. I often drive the lakeshore road and gazed out at the beautiful lake and at the sailboats bobbing around & the ducks and the ships on the other side in the canal., etc.) but I realized Pointe Claire was totally out of my reach financially. I never thought about other clubs either as they were also way too expensive, especially with a young family. Venture Sailing Club was my home away from home in the Summer. I could go out on the water and forget all my troubles and just commune with nature. It was educational (I learned about racing from the other enthusiasts at the club) I exercised and built up my strength and stamina so I could compete better. I took passers-by for a sail (people from all over the island) I introduced younger folks and older ones to sailing and often to Pointe Claire. I will miss it a lot when it when its gone. I had hoped to sail well into my 80's (that is about 30 years from now if you look at my Facebook page). What saddens me the most is the way the NEW mayor and the NEW council handled our precious club. There was never any consultation to say - try & get more Pointe Claire Members WE WILL HELP YOU with any publicity you need, or why not start a sailing school WE WILL HELP YOU. Those two ideas would introduce Pointe Claire Kids to sailing, and who knows you might even develop some international stars down the road. No. The previous Pointe Claire council did help us with a boat when we needed it, they helped us with new docks and to put them out and bring them in and they maintained the property and buildings (atho we did offer to help maintain them, but were refused). Lets face it the Red Barn is solid as a rock! It just needs a new roof and some white si

As a senior citizen and member of the Venture Sailing Club I strongly oppose the demolishing the hangar. Being able to store boating equipment on location is one of the reasons I joined Venture. That and being able to enjoy the bay's attractiveness and the surrounding area as it is.

I am a proud resident of Pointe Claire and member of Venture ,, This decision does not only impact members but the whole community as this is an open door for all residents and visitors to be in direct contact with the opportunity of sailing ...Every summer i invite visitors that come to the park and dream,,, for a sail on Valois Bay to promote My passion and my beautiful City ,, we are the envy of many,, i am thinking of all those who drive by on Lakeshore ,, all those who fly in on those planes who see those 65 boats moored in the bay ,, what a shame to even think of changing the vocation of this non GATED access to the lake for all ... The city has invested Millions in everything to do with water ,,, Pools , Canoe club ,, Water plant ,, Boat ramp ,, We as a community should continue to go forward in that direction for future generations and promote this beautiful jewel,, Lac St Louis ,, Venture is and always has been an ambassador for the promotion of this Wonderful City ..

There is NO OTHER affordable water access in our water-front community for small sailboats (you can't use the trailer ramp every time if you have a mast to put up, and a yacht club is several times the cost of Venture), and the city is destroying a tradition of more than 50 years. Sailing is a peaceful use and legitimate sport that gives residents access to nature offshore and teaches valuable skills and cooperation. The Venture facilities should be maintained and upgraded. There are other potential locations for volleyball courts and community centres. All the rest of Pointe-Claire's waterfront is either in private hands or set up for walking, biking and picnicing. The wishes of the community and the best use of this site should be given due consideration, with a full consultation!

We live at 45 Lakeshore and enjoy the beautiful view of the bay and the sailboats at the Ventura club. We also keep our kayaks there. It is a gathering place in the community and would be such a shame to lose it as we have little access to the lake elsewhere. There are plenty of parks devoted to family and sports in pointe Claire. Keep the lakeshore as it is and invest in a few renovations to the shed.

Venture has provided us with opportunities to enjoy the community around us and the lakefront in a way we've not found elsewhere ! Lower costs and independence are important to us PLEASE KEEP VENTURE!
