Our family moved to the West island in 1992 attracted mainly by the charm of the lake and the opportunity it offered to sailors on a modest budget. We have been Venture members ever since. Every winter we look forward to launch day to reunite with our long time friends and staff, spend quality time on the water and simply enjoy the club settings and beauty. Although an old girl The Shed is a landmark that should be preserved and cared for instead of demolished. She still serves the dinghy sailors well and gives the lakeshore that lovely country feel only surpassed by the PCYC's clubhouse and it's own old shed. By the way folks Ovide park and it's playground is located just two streets away... Are we missing something here?

I have been a member at the Venture Sailing Club since 1985. I bought my boat from a Dorval resident. I have payed more than a Pointe Claire resident for the last 31 years. I worked with Alwyn Hughes to continue the Venture Sailing Club in 2003/4 after the merger meant Pointe Claire could no longer afford us & I have been a member of the Executive Committee of the Venture Members Sailing Club Inc. since. With the assistance of the City, the Club works well. This is the only place on Lac St. Louis where less affluent, but just as enthusiastic sailors, can afford to sail. Often in the summer, the boats you see on the lake are Venture sailors. In Valois Bay, the residents that surround the bay see us. We are the people that make Valois bay wonderful to see. It is unfortunate that the sailors that have lucked into the Venture Sailing Base are often non-residents. But we are enthusiastic sailors. Except for 'Yacht Club Racing Nights' we are often the only boats you see on the lake. The City of Pointe Claire has decided to reduce the 'non-resident sailors'. We are the majority at the Venture Sailing Base, and we sail more often than residents. That's a fact. I have averaged 45 sails a season for the last 31 yrs. Does the sight of a sailboat in the bay not add to the 'enjoyment of life' for surrounding residents & passers by? I love it, but it must give some pleasure to the people that see me, right? The City of Pointe Claire's decision to try to reduce the 'non-resident' sailing in Valois Bay will only reduce the 'quality of life' of the residents that surround it. Fight this change of focus by the City. If you live on Valois Bay and enjoy seeing sailboats, please sign this petition 'To Keep the Sailboats'! Without you we'll lose our ability to sail & you'll lose seeing Valois Bay full of boats.

I am a proud member of the Venture Sailing Club and opposed to the City of Pointe Claire initiative to radically change the tranquility and peacefulness of the Pointe Claire waterfront at Venture Park.

The project will destroy the quality of life of the whole community

This is the best affordable club in Montreal area with extremely helpful staff and members where newcomers can learn sailing free and feel at home. There should be more clubs like Venture instead of downsizing, etc.

Le Club Venture permet de profiter d'un joyau: le lac St-Louis. Le club et son parc adjacent sont pittoresques et la vue y est magnifique. La ville se doit aussi d'offrir des endroits de calme où profiter des beautés de notre environnement.

Please, do not demolish this beautiful place. The bay will not be the same without sailboats.

Venture is a great club and its continued operation should be supported by the city.

Losing the Venture sailing club would be a serious blow to the Lac St-Louis sailing community. This sailing club brings such an added value to individuals looking to being their sailing careers and to the ol'salty sailors with decades of experience. Please help us to save our club. Thanks for your support.

Le club Venture est le seul qui offre une façon abordable de profiter de la baie de Valois. De plus, le site est calme et offre une oasis de tranquillité aux promeneurs. La vue y est magnifique.

Venture Club is a valuable asset for Point Claire. Its operation should be supported rather than eliminated.

Sailing is a beautiful sport, why would the city eliminate the club? The city needs to support the club to offer sailing to the Pointe Claire schools for free and sailing at affordable cost to children and new generations. It makes no sense to close it down in exchange of a park.

Do not destroy the prettiest bay on the lakeshore! It would be criminal to kill something so beautiful which means so much to so many people. And the Venture sailing club adds so much to the lakeshore, Pointe Claire, and the community. Some things should just never change. ...maybe a little fix up.... Add to or cherish what is already wonderful. Never destroy!

The new proposal is ridiculous. How can such an unimaginative playground park idea come up to cheapen such a rare and beautiful site?

This area is currently very well-suited to watersports, with sailing, canoeing and dragon boats. To turn it into an area for land-based sports would greatly compromise the existing facilities and would overload the park. Please reconsider.

Myself ,my children, and now my grandchildren have enjoyed this location of on the water sport for three generations. With the decision by people that have never utilized this beautiful location or visited it for more than a two minute period, will have a negative effect. Having a park in this area will bring more noise to the area and take away the calm beauty of the lake. Leaving all as is, is of greater value.

The lack of transparency and urgency in which the decisions have been taken is very concerning. We ask for a more transparent and democratic debate about the sailing activities in valois Bay.
