I am in full support of conserving this unique and community oriented Venture Club sailing base establishment!

I am a member of the venture club and the news of it being closed makes me very disapointed. I was so happy in this club and spent so much time sailing. Now, I dont know what I am going to do. I dont have that much money to join a private marina. Sailing should not only be for the rich and Venture club gave opportunity to Pointe-Clairés residents with average incomes to enjoy sailing.

I've admired the lakeshore drive for over 20 years and a good part of the reason is the peacefulness that the comes with the view of sailboats on that lake. I've been sailing for the past 3 years out of Venture's sailing club with one of its members and this place is like a big family. Do NOT take this away!

J'ai eu le bonheur de faire un tour de voile avec la famille Dionne qui sont membres du club au printemps passe. Je n'en revenais pas de savoir que c'est a 15 minutes de chez moi! Quel bel expérience. Un site a préserver!!!

We are very disappolnted to hear our club is to be closed. We can't believe you are doing this to us without warning and we are very mad.

I am not a sailor myself but do totally agree with the spirit of the petition and preservation of what bygone eras have left on the city and attractiveness of the bay.

The City should enquire from the people before embarking on significant changes like this one. What abourt the canoe club? Is it going to be pushed aside also? Or is the City intending to use the Venture park to enlarge the canoe club at the expense of the sailing club?

Vous auriez plus de signatures si votre pétition serait aussi en français. Bonne chance.

The Venture Sailing club has a longstanding tradition in the area and it represents a successful partnership between the city and its citizen. Any changes to it should be done in collaboration and in accord with the will of those who have been managing and making use of the facilities.

I learned to sail at the Venture base as a Sea Scout, some 50 years ago. It was a fantastic experience. To deprive future generations of this facility is short-sighted and unconscionable.

That wold be a shame to destroy such a wonderful place, for many to enjoy. I am planning to Moor, hopefully to Venture Sailing Club.

I grew up in Baie d'Urfe and learned to sail at the BDYC. There was a wonderful community there both for kids and adults. My family moved downtown when I was 16 and I dearly missed sailing the summers away. For years after, I wanted to get back to it. The question was where? Over 20 years later, I learned of Venture and the focus on sailing, the community and camaraderie. I bought an old Laser sailboat and joined the club. The last four summers have been pure bliss. I don't know what I would do without Venture. I would not be able to afford to join another "yacht" club on the Lakeshore nor am I sure I would want to, even if I could. To me, Venture represents what I thought Pointe Clare stood for: community, fun competition and access for all. By eliminating the Venture Sailing Club (through the planned destruction of the Venture storage shed), you will also be destroying the very fabric and heart/soul of Pointe Clare. Please re-consider this decision.

Since I was born in Pointe Claire in 1972, the Venture Sailing Club has been central to sailing in this city, and encouraged me to learn the sport and promote it to others. I encourage the city to rethink this position, to help promote sport instead of simple leisure, and compel its citizens to take advantage of this fantastic waterfront that has a long history in sailing in Montreal. Venture sailing club is such a big part of the lakeshore scene .Where else in Montreal can see sailboats moored out in bay. You don't even have to be a sailer to appreciate the Valois bay scene. There must be plenty other buildings that can be used for a meeting place in Pointe Claire. Save Venture !!!
