A proposed merger between Ticketmaster and Live Nation is in the works right now. This would create a dominant company for concert ticketing and promotion. Ticketmaster is the world's largest ticket seller and owns an artist management firm that represents more than 200 acts. Live Nation, the largest concert promoter, owns more than 140 venues and has exclusive deals with major artists. The deal, reported by the Wall Street Journal on Feb. 3, has drawn antitrust scrutiny from Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal, who said he's been in touch with several of his counterparts in other states about starting an investigation.
