Hello my name is Juston Lajoie I reside at 24711 budlo dr. Great Bend. N.Y . I am asking for your help in stopping the City Of Watertown from allowing the Toxic flowback water origanated from extracting gas from the marcellus shale or be it the utica schale from entering the hydro plant on marble st.This toxic brine has a different chemical makeup every time it pulls into the lot.The information I am about to write in this petition comes directly from the D.E.C.wich analyzed 13 samples of wastewater brought thousands of feet to the surface from drilling and found that they contain levels of radium-226,a derivative of uranium,as high as 267 times the limits safe for discharge into the Environment and thousands of times the limit safe for people to drink.The New Yorks Health Department raised concerns about the water in a confidential letter to the D.E.C last july.Handeling and disposal of this waste waste water could be a public health concern,"DOH officials said in the letter that was obtained by ProPublica."The issues raised are not trivial,but are also not insurmountable."The letter warned that the state may have difficulty disposing of the drilling waste,that thourough testing would be needed at water treatment plants,and that workers may need to be moniterd for radiation much as they might be at a nuclear facility.Mr. Sligar the watertown plant manager along with Jeff Smith,Teresa Macalusa,Joe Butler Jr,of the city council have been in favor of this process wich in other states is banned and has caused major destruction of rivers watersheds and peoples wells taken the lives of many people known cases of cancer and municiple facilities completley being overwhemed and broken down I am asking you to do your research as I have, get on board and say no to your local Reps by sighning your name below to no more Toxic Brine from over 200 miles away that is making the city next to nothing for doing it please help........
