Despite increasing concerns of violence in Zimbabwe, South African officials have said they can do nothing to prevent a Chinese shipment of arms from being delivered to the land-locked country.
The An Yue Jiang is reportedly laden with ammunition, mortars and rockets.
The An Yue Jiang, which is anchored just outside Durban harbour, is reportedly carrying nearly three million rounds of ammunition, about 3,500 mortars, and 1,500 rockets destined for Harare.
The South African newspaper Beeld said it had a copy of the shipâ
I have spent my nights tracking the ship and reading your messages about why this cargo must never reach its destination. The silence from the authorities is deafening but your determination keeps me going as I prepare to escalate this fight.

Seeing this level of support reminds me that we refuse to let these weapons reach people who are already suffering so much. This momentum proves that the world is watching what happens in Durban right now. I am incredibly moved that so many of you are fighting alongside me to keep our region safe.

Why are we letting this happen? Zimbabwe has enough problems without adding thousands of weapons to the mix. Stop the shipment now.
