Can I ask how many councillors walk 3 miles to get to work? We should be helping our kids with their education, not making it more difficult for them.

There is no safe route for the children to walk from Newton Farm to Uddingston Grammar school. Much of the route has no pavement. If there are no buses, then the only alternative for many children will be to take two trains to get to school. Not only will this be costly for parents, it will mean a ridiculously early start for the children to ensure they get to school on time. Surely the safety of the children the most important thing here, and the council have a duty of care to ensure there is a safe and convenient way for the children to get to school.

We need to show SLC that our children's safety comes before any budget cuts. It's a scandal that the council think it's safe for our kids to walk to & from the 3 high schools daily

This is totally shocking! My Children had to miss out school sometimes as the only transport they could get to school was by train and they were cancelled or delayed so they were either late or had to take the off. The council are putting Young People at risk and disrupting their Education which we pay for with our taxes. Not everyone can afford public transport.

Expecting children to walk almost 3 miles to their local high school is ridiculous. This is particularly so in the dark/wet/cold of winter. Some families will have cars to take their children, however, this will have a huge impact on congestion/polloution in the local area. Other families in our area who are living in poverty will not be able to transport their children & may not have the money to pay bus/train fares. Keep the buses & means test them? Families on low incomes get it free, others pay? Social inclusion agenda, Eco schools doesnt seem to fit with these proposals at all.

This is disgusting. my daughter is only 11 months but this will affect her when she's going to school. how can you think it's acceptable for children to walk 3 miles before even doing a whole day at school then walking home. I as an adult wouldn't walk 3 miles to work and 3 miles back every day

Think this is terrible. I am a parent if two children one going to high school and one attending nursery. I also care for my disabled husband. I can't posing be with three people at the one time. I have a very worried 11 year old who us thinking how is she going to get to school without disrupting our families life. This should not be a worry for her.

I'm a p7 currently at park view and it would take me about an hour to get to school and what about dark nights and mornings? And there's new cycle lanes to cycle to school but ignorant drivers park in those lanes meaning we must pull out on to the road were the cars buses and lorries are
