Prevent the stoppage of school bus services to children within 2 miles of schools in South Lanarkshire

Need to keep these buses on

Children are our future, they shouldn't have to walk for an hour to get to school, every precaution should be taken to keep all children safe

This is a ridiculous proposal and clearly puts budget cuts above child safety.

Ridiculous idea. Will have detrimental impact on education, traffic in the local area is already at gridlock due to continuous building of new homes and no upgrades to existing local road networks and potential safe concerns for children as young as 11 having to walk along busier roads/in dark/poor weather etc. Public transport is not necessarily direct for many. This will amount to widening the inequalities between pupils who can/can't be dropped off. It also make me despair at the lack of value we get for our council taxes in an area where we have very limited provision of services already.

my daughter has IBS and sometimes is in agony with her stomach so walking for that length of time is out of the question

I certainly won't allow my children to walk that far to get to school, where I want them to be warm, dry and ready to learn! I have MS and have good days and bad days. My children's education us going to suffer because of the bad days when I struggle and am unable to drive them to school. That's after I've dropped the youngest one at Primary. How do I decide which child is late each day because I can't be in two places at once? Make it fair and take turn about?

Safety of children has clearly not been considered here

Disgraceful. This will affect the safety of children when no safe route to walk to some schools. Making children walk in bad weather and darkness in winter for almost an hour in some cases is despicable and could affect their attendance and education.

ridiculous decision!! There's no way I will be letting my children walk that road!! Maybe the fat cats that ruled on this decision could forego some of the " expenses " they claim and put it to use where it is actually needed!!

I will not allow my children to walk along an unlit farm road, with no pavement, for almost 3 miles. As a teacher, I can very well imagine the effect this will have on learning and teaching. I certainly would not feel ready to learn having walked 3 miles in the rain.

this proposal is an absolute disgrace, our children are being put at serious risk. Will the money being saved go towards putting laundries in schools to dry off our childrens soaking clothes when it's raining, or will they be expected to sit in the cold damp clothes all day, who will be responsible for them walking to and from school in the dark winter nights..Also what teacher wants to teach a class room full of knackered kids? Yes, it won't kill the kids, but it will affect them receiving their entitlement of and to an education and prevent any social life outwith school as this eats into their spare time!!

Unsafe to walk from westburn road to Blantyre Farm road. No pavements, no lighting.
