Have they even looked at public transport links? Some kids would be better putting in placement requests as it would be easier to travel to schools outside of the catchment area.

It is not reasonable to expect kids to walk 3 miles to school.

Ridiculous that those that are in power can take away this valuable service when it is obviously so needed!

It is wrong to cut this simply to save money. My children had a considerable walk home and sometimes arrived squelching if the weather had been bad. What about next time you want to save money? You will then consider moving the goalpost to 4 miles? Slippery slope!!!!
absolute disgrace in this time and age where youngsters {some } will be forced to walk a very eerie route to head to school

SLC will do anything to save money. Money is obviously more important than children's safety. Absolutely shocking

Ridiculous , my family are not deprived but I do not drive but to send my 12yr old boy out at 7:30am from Newton to Cathkin is not going to happen. Why change school times for each school to avoid gang fighting and now all kids walking through many areas they do not know, MADNESS. The only paying bus from Newton takes 25mins to get to the start of Cambuslang Main Street, what's the point

My grandchildren live in Drumsagard and it is rediculous to make them walk 3 miles to school. It takes on average an hour to walk three miles.

These kids require transport to school. Expecting them to walk 2 mile every day there and back is shocking. Kids safety should always be priority, not jeopardised by budget cuts, disgraceful.
