Prevent the stoppage of school bus services to children within 2 miles of schools in South Lanarkshire

I live 2 miles away from my child's school but SLC say it's 1.9 due to the available underpasses (which are no the safest) The situation became worse when SPT decided to take their bus service out of our area...not economically viable. My child now has to walk a full mile to get a bus to travel the next mile. During the dark autumn and winter months it is a major concern for us parents. SLC and SPT buses should get together and think of the children's safety be it 2 or 3 mile journeys. Money before a child's safety is wrong!!

There doesn't seem to be a "safe walking route" so what price are we putting on our kid's safety/lives?

slc should cut grants to clubs rather than cutting the distance children have to qualify or a bus pass

The route to and from school from my house is approximately 40 minutes along with the need to either travel through an industrial estate or cross a 4 lane main road. I have also been hit by a vehicle on this route therefore I can vouch for the danger and idiocy of this proposal.

Having had one son knocked down on this route home, i find it dissgracefull they are even thinking about this.

I have 2 children currently attending Calderside Academy in Blantyre. I live in Earnock in Hamilton and my children should have attended Earnock High School but South Lanarkshire Council chose to close our school regardless of our opinions. South Lanarkshire Council chose to send my children to a different town for school therefore they should pay the travel costs that they agreed to pay when they were in discussions about closing our school.

im a pupil and i wouldn't feel safe walking to school plus by the time i get to school i will be tired and worn out.

I am a current pupil at Calderside academy and i wouldn't feel safe walking on unlit roads and through underpasses to get to my school in another town.

our children didn't need school transport as Earnock High School was within walking distance. South Lanarkshire Council chose to close this school and send our kids to Blantyre. None of us asked for this. Now because of savings that the council have to make you are making our children walk 3 miles along isolated roads to get to school. In the winter and bad weather they won't be fit to learn by the time they arrive

If Earnock High School hadn't been demolished we wouldn't have these costs. There isn't a safe lit path from Hill house to Calder side!

we live in halfway and i walk to work every day in cambuslang main street and that takes me 45 mins! Ridiculous attempt to save money....try cutting down on weekly grass cutting in the parks etc

This is the most rediculous cost saving exercise I have ever heard of (putting childrens safety at risk to save money) Dont think So!!

my son will not be going to school if he has to walk there we stay in westburn and it would take him 45 mins to walk there. In the cold wet weather he would be going in to school with wet cloths on

NOT SAFE. Putting our children in danger from strangers.
