A third runway at Heathrow would ruin the quality of life for our family. We could not afford to move so it would be devastating.

jade Robertson

We don't need it simple!

Sean Galvin

Not needed. Not wanted. Estuary best choice or spread the load.

Anonymous

The air quality we get even worse with any expansion our roads are already too crowded so its no no no no!

matt singh

Why concentrate the majority of aircraft traffic into West London. A spread of air traffic load across Greater London and outside London would be beneficial to local economy in those areas.

kay jeetan

First it was terminal 4 and then terminal 5. When will the expansion stop? Until it reaches out to the M25? Focusing all the aircraft noise and traffic into one area is not a healthy long term strategic solution. We must plan and act now to have a country wide solution for future air travel which benefits all. Having more planes directed towards west london will increase the already hellish pollution, noise and road congestion. It will only get worse if a third runway goes ahead and then terminal 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 will follow I'm sure.

Deborah Hurst

It will permanently damage ecosystems. People will have their lives changed.

Carol Trinder

No loss of homes and community! Air travel should be minimized and electrified rail travel encouraged where possible.

Carol Campbell-Douglas

It would be an act of vandalism to demolish this beautiful village and the lives of those people who live there. The social impacts of decisions like this seem to be completely disregarded. I am fortunate enough to live in a beautiful area of the Scottish Highlands and I can empathise with those in the village who desperately do not want to be displaced as well as those in the wider area who suffer due to environmental impact.

Stephen morrison

Im a Scottish Nationalist, but I have a deep affection for the English people.I wish you all the strength to resist the destruction of your beautiful village. God bless

Sarbjeet bhatti

heathrow expansion will be life threatening to the people living in that area. We r fully against to third run way. There is no need for this. Already too much pollution and traffic. Houses are not easy to buy again.. U don't get mortgages easily . We can not afford to buy house... As we bought this house in this area just last year. And what about kids schools? Is it easy to get good schools and easy to change schools for kids? No way my children don't want to change their schools. It took us 2years to find this good house. Will the Heathrow airport commissioner find the house and schools for our kids ? We r working husband wife with small kids and don't have time to go and look for houses and schools . Why he is making people's and kids life hell? It's already too much stress. So no third run way ... No no no no no

Elaine Walker

Wanton vandalism, a beautiful village to be destroyed ,peoples lives turned upside down and for what, just so a few more people can jet off on holiday ? I hope that you are able to prevent this from happening to your village .

Anders

Please stop this madness from happening!!

Alona Sheridan

Heathrow expansion supporters are in denial over impacts on human lives. The big consideration seems to be economic growth over human well-being. Money versus people . . . you can't eat money!

paul Taylor

No!

Claire wilson

This must be stopped, why would we want to reinforce this age old mistake of having a major international airport constantly polluting and disturbing many millions of people. It is crazy. Economic growth cannot be the only agenda.

Lisa Elliman

When are you going to stop being obsessed with wealth, stop with the greed and start caring about our planet, future generations and the creatures we share this planet with? I know I am wasting my time typing this, none of you in the government seem to care.

Rachel Cook

No to more air pollution and CO2. We need to start taking care of the planet we all rely on for "economic reasons" too!

hans vrensen

gatwick is the better option, too many residents are already suffering too much noise around heathrow

Tony Hill

Already to much air pollution and congested roads a 3rd runway would only make it worse

Milan Bharadia

What a way to wreck South West London :-(

Geneviève Morris

I live and have taught in Uxbridge for 30 years. I know that the expansion of Heathrow will cause greater air trafic, noise and air pollution in an area already very affected.

maud brixton

there are enough planes in the sky spewing out filth

John Armstrong1

I must say I thought we had put this one to bed seven years ago - at least in terms of the unequivocal commitment David Cameron gave to ban all further Heathrow expansion. This time will it be an 'if' or a 'but'...?

Ahsan

Tooo much traffic

stephen thomas

too much air traffic over richmond now

Callum

My house will get knocked down if they expand Heathrow! Also as I work there too, I will be homeless and soon jobless, and I think Heathrow is big enough

Gail Moss

I live in Wimbledon, miles away from Heathrow. Aircraft noise is bad enough with two runways. Whenever I go to Richmond or Putney I notice how much worse it is. A third runway would make life absolutely miserable for thousands of Londoners under the flightpaths.

Anonymous

I travel regularly up and down the M4 how can an extra runway be built so close to the motorway and be safe! The traffic disruption around SW London ill be astronomical... surely there is more space at Gatwick.

Alice C

This will have a devastating environmental impact on the surrounding areas and on this planet.

Sophie Baird

It's inconceivable that they are thinking of a third runway and terminal 6. I lives miles away from Heathrow disruption - aircraft noise and increased traffic - has gotten considerably worse since he opening of terminal 5.

Nicole

Stop a third runway. It will affect to many living in SW!

Lisa Chadwick

gatwick is the obvious solution not heathrow. heathrow is big enough, instead lets have two large airports, not one massive one. BA is against heathrow & with good reason

NICHOLAS BLACK

STOP HEATHROW EXPANSION - IT IS WRONG TO IMPOSE NOISE AND AIR POLLUTION ON MILLIONS OF LONDONERS

Anonymous

Traffic cannot move on the M25 around Heathrow as it is. The West of London will hit gridlock if Heathrow expansion goes ahead. Also, the government have seemed to overlook the increased risk to residents below the flight paths both from increased pollution and from any emergency events around flights. I mean come on, would you really build thousands of new homes under flight paths and risk the health and wellbeing of all those people moving into those areas. I certainly feel for anyone moving into the Blue Mountain development or anything around Binfield, Berkshire as the current noise levels keep us awake from 05:45 through to about 23:30, given that flights are almost always delayed at the end of the day and rarely end at 22:30 when they are supposed to.

John Johnson

There is already too much aircraft noise and traffic pollution around Heathrow and the South. STOP this madness NOW!

juliana wright

I'm signing because i live in the flightpath of the proposed new runway and the current level of traffic is already almost unbearable. it has been constant for weeks now. i cannot imagagine the destruction to the quality of life here with another!

keith james

stop the stealing of old peoples house to make the mass murders china Qatar money

Phil Kinrade

A simple no. Don't destroy peoples homes & lives. Destruction of villages for financial gain is totally wrong. If we really need to add to polluting the skies and terrorist targets, build one at Gatwick or Boris Island

Stephen Brady

Noisy and unhealthy expansion not wanted...Use Gatwick or estuary airport build.

Jeremy Ng

The noise across west london is bad enough - from 4.30am!

Mark Bridgford

Heathrow expansion will make the noise pollution intolerable all over west london

Michelle

The expansion of Gatwick airport would not involve the destruction of people's lives and bulldozing of their homes. Noise pollution for those living under Heathrow's Westerly flight path is already at an intolerable level, the social cost of Heathrow expansion would be huge.

James Instone

We dont want this, heathrow is badly managed and if run correctly wouldnt need an extra runway. Polution and noise and planes flying over my house is too much already so no I dont want an expansion. Also worth noting the heathrow questionaires were more one sided and never asked us if we didnt want and never gave us this option so heathrow fiddled this and is why they think they can do this. Liars shouldnt be allowed to get their way.

Alan findlay

Heathrow should NEVER get another runway. They have already started flying over my area making huge noises and promised flights would be higher with less noise . They lied big time and to the local MP. Totally ruined the area and the value if our property.

Laureen Sherry

It does not make any sense. Gatwick is a much more sensible location.

Nerina

STOP and BLOCK heathrow expansion madness. It's pure short sightedness with instantly damaging consequences

Reuben Charlton

Heathrow makes no sense, Gatwick does.

sharon

The uk has loads of airports. They should utilise these airports. Plane passengers can get discounts on train fairs or shuttle buses and so on to get people using other airports. Expansion is not the answer.

Tiffany Farish

A third runway would be an environmental disaster as well as damaging for the wellbeing of those who live under the flight path.

Gillian George

There is no other major capital city that brings aircraft directly over its centre. We urgently need an alternative solution. Give Gatwick an extra runway and start building Boris's Island NOW!

Steven Gray

Nimbyism is valid if something negatively affects 6m back yards. The human cost of this decision needs to be included.

Mrs S Radovic

This is an issue for the whole country it must be stopped, the devastation to so many homes and people is outrageous

Mr Alpeshkumar Daiagar

people and their should be protected

Edward Bird

No 3rd runway - it would mean more noise, more pollution and more congestion. Heathrow is in the wrong place and too close to heavily built up areas.

Janet Sutton

The traffic around Heathrow is so bad now it takes 15 minutes for us to get from Hatton Cross to Colnbrook on a good day so how can it be possible for more traffic to come in the area. Someone needs to come and live in this area for a week or more to find out what it's like.

Jill How

Perhaps if the Government finally agree to expansion at Heathrow, this is a plan to kill off (through pollution) a large section of west London, thereby reducing the population demands on the NHS and freeing up housing in the area. This is not a real comment. However a true observation is;- why should west London suffer for excess pollution (above legal limits) from increased traffic road and flights at airport, M25 & M4), when thios is to be offset, by reduced pollution across the rest of the country, to achieve an acceptable average for the whole country to meet legal and environmental targets??

Max Stirzaker

How can we expect to reduce emissions while allowing this to go ahead?

Christopher Allan

No to expansion. Already too many people, too many houses and too much congestion in the area

Richard Bloore

The elephant in the room is the jumbo jet which must causing enormous amount of pollution across London

Danny Bradley

Traffic congestion is already horrendous on the M25 bordering Heathrow as well as other primary routes. This corner of London is already overstretched. "No third runway at Heathrow. No ifs, no buts". - David Cameron. Is a politicians word worth anything?

sylvia whyte

The public consultations have really brought it home to me - we will not recognise the area - traffic congestion & poor air quality. Where are the additional workers going to live? There are other areas in the country that would welcome additional employment - we have no more room in the South East.

Dominic Perkins

The air we breath is already well below acceptable. This expansion is incredibly irresponsible, and un-ethical. These people are ruining the Country for their own gain. Have you tried driving round the M25 at Heathrow, it's at breaking point already! Completely idiotic.

Sophie Johnston

No more runways - and reduce noisy early morning / night flights.

Anonymous

Greenery fields around Heathrow are stunning! Keep the UK authentic.

Jack Chronister Sr

I am totally against any additional expansion of Heathrow airport that would include destroying more land or English heritage. The need to preserve the heritage is greater than any airport expansion.

Jeniene Glass

How sad the powers to be could even think of destroying the beauty and history of this magic village. They are destroying peoples lives, please, think again and DON'T DO IT.

Take Gatwick instead

Anonymous

if a new airport was proposed it would never get permission to have planes coming in over such a large and well populated area. Why should expansion be allowed. BA promised NEVER to let further expansion happen.

Michael Stoe

Let the planes come in over the Tory MP's houses instead of ours. They will take the profits from the expansion so let them take the noise & pollution as well.

michelle norris

Too many residents' will be affected, and on a far more continual basis then at present.

Michael Redford

More and more is not always best. This is not progress. It would be better to improve connections between Gatwick and Heathrow using direct rail link and transit tunnels.

This is complete madness. A highly built up and populated area with even more planes flying overhead, not to mention the significant increase in noise, air and traffic pollution. So many lives affected. And yet there are other less built up options nearby such as Gatwick and Stansted.

Ian C L Thompson

Heathrow already causes intolerable pollution, noise and disruption to lives. The idea that we must expand this monster in order to "compete" with Frankurt is irresponsibly childish. "The greenest government ever"...?

Ryan Brown

I think it's disgusting that people are being forced to leave their homes for yet more planes polluting our world.

Janette Brown

Heathrow too polluting as it is. Countless Lorries idling waiting to get thru security whilst pumping out clouds of filthy diesel for the staff to breath in - these lorries pump out MORE than others used on roads because they are used for short trips back & forth for 16 hours a day. Able to TASTE aircraft fuel when working at T5 locations in addition to the diesel fumes. A health catastrophe for all.

Tim Clare

I live under the flight path and it is very noisy and the flights are becoming more regular especially in the mornings. Furthermore via mental impact on pollution along the M4 into London and the wildlife around Colebrook including The rivers that are essential when the River Thames is In flood.

There is already enough noise disruption and pollution across London - we do not need more. This is a pure case of business expansion and profit and the expense of public welfare. Government should be looking at how to regenerate areas away from London instead of assuming an increase in passenger traffic into London will benefit the country as a whole. London is already driving more than 22% of GDP of the country - other regions need to perform better through smarter investment.

Anonymous

We're already woken up by daily 6 am flights into Heathrow. This can only get worse! Why do we need more air travel in this digital age? And noise and air pollution.

Steven Gomersal

We have suffered 50 years of expansion and noise. A Hub by definition is at the centre. This would be Birmingham or the midlands area. The UK wants to travel less to get a flight or interconnected flights within the UK. London bound tourists would be able to visit the capital on HS 2 in less time than on London roads. London has 6 airports around or in it. Many major motorways. Don’t let greedy shareholders and shallow politicians who live far away ruin other people’s lives for dividends.Please.The Capital city of the UK is at its limit of pollution let common sense prevail. Goods would land right into the heart of the country where distribution should be it makes far more sense. Our lungs, ears, eyes need rest like other parts of the UK, this is not fair to millions of people.

Peter Blackman

The plan to have continual flights over Richmond Park; just awful.

Another example of shallow politicians making short sighted decisions on matters that will not directly impact them - Heathrow has deliberately produced an overly complicated document 200 pages long outlining its plan, where flight paths and matters pertaining to noise/air pollution and overall impact on the quality of life of the affected areas has been purposely either omitted or vaguely detailed – Purposefully done to reduce the understanding of the impact of the expansion to the average person. Furthermore, the recent government vote was undoubtedly constructed to enable a majority in favour of the expansion – suspiciously, labour the peoples strongest hope against the expansion were granted free votes!

Hello, Here is what I have got to say about the Heathrow expansion. I remember when back in the 1980s when I was plane spotting with my dad that for most of the time planes would come into land on runway 27right snd take off on 27left. They would do this vice versa too. There used to be a third diagonal runway already built within the airport when during busy periods, planes would use this third runway as well. So my point is why can’t they reopen that third diagonal runway again and that way nobody would lose their homes and the land would remain unaffected? Also on another point why can’t they use the millions of pounds to find a natural cure for Alzhiemers disease? It is quickly becoming the Wests biggest killer as we are an ageing population. This might discourage the big pharmaceutical companies or cooperations to stop making medicine to keep people sick. Just a thought..,

Raf Slotwinski

Terrible noise problems already with new flight paths in last five years going over previously quiet areas at all times of day and night low and loud.

Karen Levene

This will have a negative impact on the environment, well being and travelling around the area with roads and trains becoming grid locked and over crowded

Tim Sheppard

The South East of England is already at capacity, we need to apportion economic values to open spaces, natural environments and quality of life for residents and future generations in the immediate and surrounding areas. Furthermore, existing infrastructure that will ‘feed’ the demand and supplementary services as part of the planned expansion are insufficient. We should be investing in renewables and greener sources of travel in-line with the Government’s recent environmental commitments. Any airport expansion would be better focussed working with government to generate investment from organisations into the northern powerhouse. This in turn can be supported by HS2 infrastructure, tram systems, and further investment in electric supercharging networks and green loops to connect open spaces and nature via cycle and foot paths.

Robin Herbert

I’m opposed to a third runway at Heathrow. The environmental impact cannot be overlooked - how can this possibly be justified in the face of a commitment to reduce carbon emissions!? And if the UK really needs another airport or runway (which I'm not convinced is the case) then there are other alternatives outside of London. Stop this madness!

Ann Owen

Our world is on the brink of collapse so adding another runway is adding to its demise not solving it. The money could be better used elsewhere.

Anonymous

Stop the extra noise and air pollution

Faye Billson

Helen Birkbeck

This plan is misguided and awful for the environment, and the costs of rerouting motorways and demolishing homes will probably equal any economic benefit we gain from it. If we do need new runways, which is a moot point when we should be limiting air travel, they should be in the Thames Estuary, at Gatwick or in the Midlands.

Robert McAllister

This expansion must be stopped. Otherwise the UK carbon footprint will go through the stratosphere - literally, when the UK is legally committed to a zero carbon economy by 2050. Also the rebuilding of the approach roads will result in decades of traffic jams and air pollution, making this area undesirable for human habitation as it has too much congestion and air pollution already.

For those of us already having to put up with daily noise and pollution from aircraft at LHR, expanding Heathrow will make the situation even worse for us. More aircraft apparently flying much lower will mean even less sleep, more pollution and more stress. That with the increased traffic on the already chronically over congested M4 will make living in the area intolerable. I dont want to have to sell the home that I love and be forced to leave the area for some peace and quiet. The M4 corridor is already very over populated and the expansion would only make it worse. Heathrow and surrounding areas are blighted by traffic jams noise and pollution levels that are not acceptable in the 21st century. Strategic thinking is needed so I'll through mine out there. Located approximately half way between London & Birmingham is the former RAF base Upper Heyford, the runway is said to be 3 miles long. I put forward a plan to bring the former airbase into operation as another airport. Reasons. 1, Access from the M40 is acceptable on condition a new direct link access road to connect travel to and from Airport. 2, Build a HS2 stop there. 3, Build a new bus hub, and train station there. 4. The economy will expand in the area significantly, also allowing people from the Midlands to benefit from being able to be employed there. 5 , freight terminals can access railway. The list is endless!

The "hub and spoke" model is outdated - Boeing build smaller not bigger now because the demand is point to point. That means smaller regional airports increasing their throughput not LHR expanding. 65% of people who pass through LHR are not on business. They are going on holiday. It doesn't matter to them if the fly from Stanstead, Luton or Birmingham - they have no need to be swiftly accessible to the centre of London. LHR does not need to expand - the contrary is the case.

London is a hub airport with more runways than Amsterdam, Frankfurt or Paris. The UK needs more flight capacity in other parts of the country. Forget 400,000+ extra flights in the gridlocked M25/M4 Heathrow corridor. Think ahead and share flights around.

The correct answer for extra runway space in the South East has been obvious since the 1960s. A new Thames estuary airport. Successive British governments pretend that environmental or other reasons are why they refuse to seriously consider the correct answer, but prefer what they see as cheap fudges for piecemeal Heathrow expansions. Look at what other nations such as the French, Dutch and Hong Kong can do in short order to create sensible airport expansion in the correct places for the majority of their populations, but we just carry on fudging along looking a cheap plaster to stick over the problem.

I vote against expansion of heathrow airport. There is already too much noise and too muche concentrated traffic also on the roads
