The slaughterhouse is a "grandfathered" facility and is restricted by the Municipal Government Act of Alberta, in that it is not suppose to be expanding. The slaughterhouse has been "grandfathered" since 1980 and over that time they have built chicken barns, added a second story, purchased residential homes, and, most recently, increased their loading yard on to land leased from Canadian National Railways. We, the signers of this petition, are asking The City of Calgary, the authority charged with enforcing the Municipal Government Act, to please enforce existing laws and stop the expansion of the slaughterhouse within our community.

I have submitted a formal request for an audit of the facility's permits to the city planning department. We are currently waiting for a response regarding their recent lease agreements with the railway company.

Unbelievable. The rules are the rules for everyone else, why not for them?
Grandfathered means you leave it how it is. It doesnt mean you can just keep growing forever.
The smell is already bad enough without a giant loading yard expansion right next to our homes. Respect the zoning laws.
Ramsay is a residential area and people live here!!!! Why is the city letting them keep building stuff when they are supposed to be restricted? Fix this.
This is ridiculous. I live a few blocks away and the noise is constant. Do your job city hall.

Enough is enough. They keep buying up houses and expanding more and more every year. It needs to stop now.
