On June 18th 2009, Bill C-428 - submitted by MP Ruby Dhalla - received first reading in the Canadian House of Commons. This bill proposes to reduce the residency requirements for the Old Age Pension (OAP) from 10 years to 3 years. As someone who has lived and worked and paid taxes in this country all my life, it makes me livid to think that the Canadian government is considering a bill that would allow newly arrived residents to drain our Old Age Pension without ever having likely contributed a dime to it! We call on all MP's in the Canadian government to do the right thing and reject Bill C-428. Do not sell out our Old Age Pension to benefit those who have only lived in this country for 3 years! Canada needs to take care of Canadians first!

A lifelong Canadian citizen who has worked in Canada and paid taxes here all my life and who is concerned that the Canadian government is considering a bill that would allow newly arrived residents to drain our Old Age Pension without ever having likely contributed a dime to it!
