Hi Neighbor,
As you know, those of us living on or near Bennett Bridge Road (Highway 1078) have come together in the past to oppose Zoning Changes that affect everyone.

The current protective Zoning Rules were established over 17 years ago, due to the unified efforts of the neighborhood. The result is an uncrowded, country setting with an appeal we all enjoy.

Under our current zoning, trailers are prohibited on most of Bennett Bridge Road. If someone wants to install a mobile home, they must request a zone change for that location.

** Any proposed Zone Change will permanently alter the existing zoning map so that a mobile home can be installed on that site. If approved, a permanent change in the zoning for that location will be applied.

** Do not be fooled! They call this an 'overlay', but it IS a Zone Change as stated by the Zoning Board.

UPDATE: On December 1, 2020, another Petition will be submitted to alter the zoning in our area. The petitioner wants to install for placement of one or more mobile homes on Bennett Bridge Road at Robinson Road.

Why Stop This Request for a Zone Change?
If the Parish Council approves this mobile-home request, it will be a 'Spot Zone' different from the rest of the area. The precedent will be set. The Council will then be pressured in the future to grant similar requests.

This is how neighborhoods change and slowly develop into areas that lack the look and feel of the original Zoning intent.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Long term existing mobile homes in the area are fine. Temporary mobile homes while a house is under construction are also fine. This petition is to oppose a zone change (overlay) for new or additional mobile homes in the area.

Please join us in opposition to this Zoning Change. This petition will be given to the St. Tammany Parish Zoning Committee at the upcoming meeting.
