I really wish we could see some facts regarding the price increases (versus RPI) along a timeline, showing the service reductions and passenger price increase trends, along with the passenger numbers, split by type (annual/monthly/regular and one-off travellers) would be extremely helpful! And I believe would clearly demonstrate that market forces in relation to Wightlink’s captive customer base are actually unable to work freely (due to lack of viable alternatives) and therefore allow Wightlink to force passenger price up, despite reducing their service levels, without significantly reducing their customer numbers (especially at key times in the working week).
It would be useful to also be able to review that alongside the profitability of the passenger service (alone)
I also think it is the responsibility of the Isle of Wight Council to monitor (with the intention to ensure) that the findings of the previous committee are still in line, under the current setup. Or, whether the more recent (and highly significant) change in ownership (and control) means that the findings, assurances and recommendations made by the Policy Commission for Business and Infrastructure

Are no longer being followed. And actually our residents are being exploited by the ferry company??

A company that makes over 20m a year profit and pays shareholders 14m and pays no Corporation tax. Yet they can't afford to provide a decent replacement service?

As ever, Wightlink do as they please without a care for their customers. We need a regulator, train passengers would never accept this awful service.

Well when I emailed them about using a charter vessel this is the BS they stated.
"Unfortunately we do not have the passenger numbers to support a charter service and the feedback when have used alternative craft has been poor. Our passenger data shows that a large number of our customers avoid charter sailings, which take longer and cannot replace our usual vessels."

No other company would be able to do this to there customers and stay in business. Its only because the island has no choice so they think they can do what they want. Time for your customers to say enough is enough.

I agree. We need MORE frequent and MORE reliable services, at prices that are MORE accessible for everyone .
The benefits for the Island’s businesses, our teenage population, our tourism industry, plus the general benefits for all of us who live here (or visit family here) are likely to be immense!

The service is poor enough as it is with an hourly service.

Wholeheartedly support this petition. Time and time again Wightlink let their customers down. The most they get is a measly booklet of vouchers for free tea/coffee in December!
