This is an essential service that requires a two boat commuter service year round.

The decision to have a one an hour service at this time if year is ludicrous. When there are no hovercraft running there is no enough capacity for everyone who want to cross the Solent. We should have a better service than this

Shambolic company so many cancelled sailings die to various rubbish reasons this is just another example of them neglecting and disrespecting the island and its population who actually pay the wages etc it's nearly £20 one way off the island ( for a 25min crossing) and they cant be bothered to put on a charter vessel to.keep the normal timetable running, personally I think the company are running it into the ground to either sell to somebody else or shut completely

Something needs doing short term to all ferry companies, but I’m afraid the only decent, reliable, long term solution is the fixed link. World leaders in infrastructure, ARUP, will start the viability study, once the £130k is raised. Around £23k has been raised so far by the public, so if you are fed up of being held to ransom, then you can donate here solentfreedomtunnel.co.uk

I put up with this maintenance for 5 years. They used to supply a replacement boat which was great, but then they decided they could make more profit by not doing this. I have seen people standing on the cat at this times of year and it does not cater for when the hovercraft passengers have to use it also. AS to their comment about this being a quiet time of year, I suppose it is after all it is only the people who make the trip to work regularly that travel now, and its obvious that Wightlink do not give a damn about them. This is all a shame as the men and the women actually working on the cat do a great job.

Lack of respect for islanders.

I have close family on the Island and travel over frequently. Have noticed real decline in service in recent years apart from the annual maintenance. They need to get their act together and provide a more reliable service considering the price

Our MP needs to concentrate on helping island residents needs for a decent service to get on and off the Isle of Wight and not what's going on in China.

The daily commute is a key part to islanders livelyhoods. The ferry companies should be required to provide a regular service not just decide on their own. When it was Sealink and owned by the people it always ran to provide a service rather than a business.

Wightlink are recently providing a far poorer service than in the past on all of its routes with a number of cancellations. Quite a large part of this is due to cost cutting. They need to listen to their customers more and improve the situation as much as is possible.

An hourly service which is clearly a financial decision as maintenance hasn't taken this long in the 15 years of travel. Even with the hourly service it's running late as can't turn around quick enough due to capacity. Most seats taken on crossings, some full and leaving people behind!

At busy commuter periods this would be ideal. Last year this ended up being extended on 3 occasions. With cancellations on hover and car ferry there is no priority for season ticket holders

Wightlink is a Monopoly. Competition is needed. Residents are not cared about by these fat cats.

Unacceptable to reduce this service and increase waiting times plus even reduced services have been cancelled in last few weeks. It has everything to do with cost cutting

Wightlink, you should be ashamed of yourselves. I suggest you start listening to customers, because if you don’t, you wont be around much longer!

I remember last year queuing for nearly 2 hours to get back in the evening. I shall ensure I do not travel Wightlink during the maintenance period as it was not fun
