Stop Wightlink Reducing Services

It's outrageous to reduce the service to once per hour just so that Wightlink can avoid having to spend that bit extra to maintain a 30-minute service, and they shouldn't get away with it

A replacement boat service is required asap

Wightlink always used to charter a replacement boat during refits, but no longer. The charter boat might have been slower, but it has a bar, comfy seats and a crew with a good sense of humour. Wightlink are treating their passengers with utter contempt. When the hovercraft is cancelled, there is a scramble to get a seat, or even board the catamaran. It's p*ss poor, sort it out, Sh*telink!!

The reduced service fails to meet needs. Often, is is impossible to get on the 5.15 because the queue banks up to the train platforms thus meaning an hours wait. The ferry--due to increased capacity is often late setting off in the mornings and so the 10 past and quarter past rains are missed with not inconsiderable consequences. The time of year means that the risk of the hover being cancelled is ever present which compounds the problem. Including monthly car park I am paying about £480 each 10 weeks which is a lot of money. Well worth it for a half hour service but not otherwise.

Sick of arriving to uni 50 minutes early because there is no quarter past boats from Ryde peir and having to pay additional childcare costs to do so

I heard there was a reduced car ferry service also. Hence why people who commute weekly by car cannot get back either!!

Christina. I’m moving shortly and I think I will follow suit!! How busy is the Hovercraft? And are you booking yourself on every day?

I’ve just swopped to Hover and instead of getting home at 8pm I’m now getting home at 7pm without having to wait around for the fastcat because it’s on hourly service. No more Ryde pier, the train doesn’t always run anyway and £1.80 to go one stop ! I was paying £210 a month for the 30 day ticket, now I’m paying £150. That’s a quite a difference. I bought a wightlink book of 10 singles for £69 for the days the Hover cancels. Has anybody else changed to Hover or considering it ?

Completely agree with this petition. When combined with a reduced Fishbourne car ferry service at the same time (no St Clare and a degraded Wight Light) the sub-standard Wightlink schedule is strangling the Island!

Absolutely! The people who work for Wightlink are Fantastic. But the company ethics are extremely poor, their pricing policy is possibly misplaced and their decision to not contract in Wightline boats AGAIN this year has definitely lost them custom (will people stay with Hovertravel? Can Hovertravel cope with the extra demand? I am hoping to meet with them next week so maybe I will have some answers!!)

Exactly. The whole thing is pretty dire, it feels like the company is being run on a shoestring!!

They continue to show total contempt for their customers ! The additional time needed, could be the difference between taking your kids to school or getting home for bed time, or visiting an elderly relative .. but what do Wightlink care .. they get their money and truly don’t give a damn !

The queues are worsened when the hover craft is cancelled

Wightlink should offer a consummate service or reduced fee.

Last year The boats get refitted then breakdown weeks later. The ramp at Portsmouth has been broken for months. The toilets at Portsmouth also need a refit and all you get from the senior management is the same old BS.
