Thank you for signing! Please disseminate broadly! Yes, absolutely -- it is necessary to save each and every one! So planting even 100 small trees for every one lost would not be enough -- we would have a habitat deficit for the 150 years that it takes for these trees to grow to maturity, and we don't have that time. What's more, they always go on about how they plant for example "2 to 1" or whatever. That wouldn't be nearly enough, and we can't encourage them to think that this is an acceptable way of thinking. There is no guarantee that the small trees that we plant today will survive to maturity, especially given the disturbing and destructive changes that we are seeing in our climate. So -- the thing is to SAVE the big trees, and plant more.

Lakewood: Save these trees for future generations. These trees are a part of a central habitat corridor for migratory birds and serve as a home for year-round nesting birds. These trees also provide ground cover, shade, and an ecosystem for countless creatures that live in and around them. These trees are not just a beautiful, natural area but an essential factor in the livelihood of our area. We are watching the world burn around us due to repeated similar bad choices, and that there is even a hint of a possibility that the city would dream of destroying these trees is appalling. How can you dream of cutting down a long-standing grove of trees to build a structure that can go just about anywhere else? Just because you can, doesn't mean that you should. Keep the trees.

We’ve lost so much of Lakewood. I’ve been here since 1991. We need to reassess some of the environmental changes we are making! They can’t be undone! In my opinion we’ve already taken to much WOOD out of LAKEWOOD!

Please do not destroy the native Garry Oak Trees. Us humans have done enough destruction to our air, land and water. Save these trees!

My family has lived in Lakewood for 100 years, 1921, and been passionate tree lovers . Please stop the destruction of our groves, especially the Garry Oaks.

I remember fields of these around the Colonial Center, etc. growing up. Please help preserve what's left. I appreciate the plantings they did over at the Game Farm.

Too many tree are being cut down. This will soon ruin our community even more! Why are you allowing this to happen? $$$$! To be heck with the citizens. Global warming is increasing and you don't seem to care.

It is sad we even have to do this. No one seems to care about anything anymore. I love these trees and we need to preserve each and every one of them. They give so much to our community it is our responsibly to care for and cherish them. For every warehouse built they should have to plant a certain number of new oaks per a certain defined square footage.

Save the oaks, do something for the people of Lakewood and the earth.

We moved here in 1960. We lived in "Lakewood". Gravelly Lk.Dr. had roof high Rhodies & oak trees were abundant. Cudos to this group.

These trees are so majestic, take so long to grow,and live so many more years than people. please respect and protect them for our children’s future. Tell me have you ever seen an oak tree for sale at a nursery??? I have never.

Garry Oaks provide critical habitat and ecosystem services. They are a huge asset to Lakewood and should be preserved.
