The parking situation is absolutely terrible and these tickets I'm getting are making me broke. I can hardly afford to go here as it is. I shouldn't have to worry about a $20 ticket every day

Parking has always been an issue on this campus, and it has to be dealt with before we can grow as a University.

The parking here is awful. I bought a private parking pass for the 5th street garage. I don't think that it's fair that I have to pay over $200 to park in this lot when pretty much any one can park here. Especially since some people can just park there for free when no one is at the booth to get the money. It was a huge rip off. My brother-in-law has to leave an hour early to find a decent parking spot. Parking is awful and we need to do something about it.

Here is a proposition. Stop ticketing people who park in clearly marked spaces. Stop placing academic holds on those who have tickets in the appeal process. Stop selling reserved parking for lots that you then allow visitors to park in without monitoring traffic. Stop ticketing those who are forced to "make a spot" in lots that they have already paid dearly for because "visitors" leave their cars in spaces for weeks on end and leave having only paid the one day cash rate. I'm talking to you green 1970's model Dodge on level 3 of lot 31, and you multiple Hamilton County Sherriff's vehicles. Lot 31 in particular makes money for UTC three different ways simply because they won't police their own greed. Lastly, the solution is to build more multi-level parking on already existing lots and limit student attendance increases until they can accommodate the students that they already have. They won't do this for the same reason they won't stop raising tuition. Its about funds for the university. That's what "Stop UTC Parking" means to me.

The point is to stop the ticketing and then reform the system we currently have! We are working on the proposal this is just to spark interest, if you want to help please do if not that's fine too you can pay my $400 in tickets

In regards to anyone against this movement , I respect that something is being set in motion. I am sure other universities have had to find means to accommodate their students for the betterment of their education . I respect and honor my alma mater , but this is something that is staple to the learning environment .

UTC is land locked. They have bus transit systems that allow you to park off campus and then ride bus systems to. I'm not sure how you expect UTC to fix a situation that is not in their hands. Does parking suck? Yes. It's because the school was built small and the city grew around it. What more can they be doing? What does it mean to "stop" parking? What is this petitions objective? I understand you don't like the situation but what can be done? Propose something.

I hate campus parking. I have a degenerative connective tissue disorder, but it's not severe enough to get handicapped parking full time - I only have that option when I become injurred due to the walking required by such a large, vehicle unfriendly campus. Also, I've tried desperately every year to reserve/purchase a Lot 10 parking tag, but no matter how early I am or what lists my name is on, I've yet to manage to obtain one. Therefore, I have to get General parking. Which is an obscenely long walk for someone with physical problems... only enflaming and irritating my joints. Thanks a lot, UTC, for my pain and continuing injurries. I sure love being on crutches.

I have submitted a project propsal last year to make a parking app. Maybe they should think about that more seriously, too.
