Stop Unfair Taxation of Nanoose Bay Property Owners!

This taxation is completely wrong and I shall follow up with MLA and Province and press. It is impossible to expect us to pay for a pool that we cannot access

I am against this arbitrary process that is been imposed on us. I do think Area E should bear some cost for the Ravensong (or Parksville? ) pool but not the proposed cost sharing formula.

We live too far from the pool and have no public transportation to get there

Ravensong is too far away from Nanoose Bay, I would never go there to use the facility.

I absolutely do not agree to any tax participation for Ravensong Pool. Rescind Bylaw 899.02

Area E was not given the opportunity to vote on ByLaw No.899 in 1993. To impose this tax without our representation if not illegal, is unjust.

If we have to pay for a pool in Q.B., what is the next thing they will force us to pay for...the pool in Nanaimo?

Hardly ever go to Qualicum Beach, always go to Nanaimo. You cannot force me to change by making me pay more tax.

So I am going to figure out how much my spouse and I will have to pay to go swimming for an hour a day at Ravensong. First cost 1 1/2 hours travel time for 1 hour of swimming. Cost of gas, 65km, 10km per litre, $1.74 per litre, equals $10.28. Cost of admission is $350.87 per year per person, so that is $700.00, which is $1.97 per day. If we went swimming 365 days a year it would cost us $4471.25 a year. Do you think that the people who dreamed this up would spend this amount when they have a pool within a mile of their house? I think not. Stupid is as stupid does!

Maybe like all governments you could look at all the money you have wasted on projects like dolphin Drive and put that towards the pool if you really believe you need our money to support it.

Totally inappropriate Taxation scheme and a 'slippery slope' for future abuse for any additional 'pet' projects across the RDN. Do Not Tax where 'elected' Representatives imposing them hold NO ACCOUNTABILITY to the taxpayer. I cannot vote for or against ANY of the Representatives who are now wishing to make their project viable through the expansion of the tax base. They are imposing a tax without accountability to me and my neighbours. A firm NO to this taxation scheme. It may be legal visa vie the RDN organizational structure but it is JUST WRONG!

I strongly oppose the RDN Bylaw Amendment 899.02.

Mr. Sean Grant/Doug Holmes I am writing to voice my concern about your intent to raise my taxes to fund an Aquatic Centre that my family has Never used and will Never use. The plan to move forward & include us in the cost formula +11% of the assigned costs when our electoral area is responsible for only 3.9% of the centre’s use (Government Numbers) is outrageous. Let the people who use this facility pay for its construction and operation through local taxes or a cost to use (pay to play). The process to move this motion forward (significant amendments to RDN bylaw 899,1993 made without EA “E” electoral approval) are neither fair nor reasonable. I would ask you to reconsider your support for district 69 Swimming Pool Service Amendment Bylaw No. 899.02, 2022. We are fed up with actions like this and are sick and tired of paying for services that we do not use. It’s just another backroom money grab, please do the right thing and reduce our share to the 3.9% of the cost to build and operate…. Fair is Fair! I don’t use this pool because it is too far away. I pay to use the Fairwinds Wellness Pool.

I do not believe that there anyone in Nanoose Bay will travel to Qualicum Beach to use a swimming pool.
