As 30+ year Nanoose resident I’ve used Ravensong about 3 times ( took my kids). Both Nanaimo pools are far better and while I’m in Nanaimo I can get a bunch of shopping done I can’t in Qualicum. Rave song may be central in the Regional District but not putting it in Parksville was a HUGE error in judgment. I am opposed to paying for a pool that me or my community rarely use.

Since I have moved here many years ago I have been wanting a pool close to my house. Nanaimo has fabulous pool we have nothing ravensong too far

I do support paying taxes which I feel are necessary for the "greater good" (childcare and school taxes come to mind), regardless of whether or not I use those resources. I'm not convinced that this pool fits in the category of "the greater good". I am a senior on a fixed income, new to Nanoose so don't know what's what yet, but do know that I will probably never use that pool (it's too far away, gas cost too much), and that a tax increase will be a challenge and yet another blow to trying to get by in these tough economic times. I think the funding formula is wrong - shouldn't there be a way to tax people on their net worth, not their property value or what they declare as income. I think the most wealthy people should buck up, based on net worth, wherever they live in Oceanside, to pay for Ravensong. I know this idea is not something the RND has the ability to implement but perhaps they could bring it up with the province. In upshot, I'm already on the brink and don't want to have to pay more taxes for a facility I will unlikely ever use.

RDN has spent TOO much time and money on trying to get this BYLAW changed. It would have been cheaper and more transparent if it has gone to a vote. Giving AREA "E" their say.

In 1993 Area E was excluded from voting knowing that if included the pool would never have been built in Qualicum. We had no say then and you are trying to do that again to Area E. This needs to go out to vote.
I am okay with updating Ravensong but I am against expansion. We need a pool located in a pool in a more central area. The $31 million price tag for expansion ??? has this money been secured or will this escalate with rising interest. Is this really the best usage of this money?

This is not democratic or fair to those who did not participate in the original process. What a complete overreach by the RDN to IMPOSE this on residents who clearly have not and will not use the facility.

For residents to pay for something they do not use or rarely use is unfair. The pool is too small to enjoy. Too many lessons and children!!! We use Pacific Shores if we wish to swim

Raised 3 kids in Nanoose Bay. Kids always wanted to go to Nanaimo pools. Better pools for playing. More options after or before pool and safer ride not turning left into highway off Summerset. . Same driving time.

Unbelievable that in this day and age a property owner could be forced to pay a share of facility costs that is 3 to 4 times their fair share based on usage. Incorporating population size and assessed value into the basis for calculating the tax is unwarranted for a facility such as this. It is already far more expensive for Area E residents to use the facility due to the cost of the longest commute of any of the areas, and to unilaterally compound those costs with a disproportionate tax burden is extremely unfair.

No one in my family has ever used the Ravensong Pool. Not a convenient location to drive to from here!

Not a service that Nanoose Bay would use. Tax gouge. Users should pay at the door, not tax Nanoose residents.

We already questioned the unfair/ biased taxation of many properties before. Instead of reevaluating the current status of many properties, the RDN's reply was to raise the tax!
