Please don't screw over the teachers in this district. My children have graduated out, but I vote for the tax for teachers and students. If things don't change, I will vote no in the future! Teachers first!!!

Don't lose these great teachers this district has by forcing them to go to neighboring counties or districts.

I am a tax payer in the district, home owner, parent, and school volunteer who works with the teachers and students every day. We cannot afford to lose our phenomenal teachers! They should not have to pay so much for their health care benefits! Our teachers deserve better! The district has the money.

Our district teachers deserve to be compensated (salaries and benefits) at least on a par with teachers from neighboring districts. Our district's good reputation is due in large part to its quality teachers. Just how long does the board think the district will retain its good name if quality teachers have to leave Union SD to go to neighboring districts in order to get the the compensation and respect they deserve---and if the board has trouble hiring replacements or keeping those new hires once they find out they can make more money and get more generous benefits (with less out of pocket cost to them) in a neighboring district.

Every school bond measure in the last 25 years has been passed by a very supportive community, many with the promise of retaining the best teachers. It's time for them to be recognized for their excellence!

Take care of our teachers and pay them what they deserve. My boys love their teachers and I can't praise them enough for the job that they do.

My children were taught by amazing public school teachers. Give them what they need to keep them here, in our neighborhood!

Besides deriving monies from the state, USD has a recent Bond Measure and Parcel Tax in place for the next several years. USD has former sites that are now leased in excess of $5 million annually, and the budget for USD holds substantial reserves in excess of the 3% mandated by the state.. The District Office is currently top heavy with a glut of administrative type personnel from Superintendent, Assistant Superintendents, Directors, and Chief Financial and Technology Officers, on to Teacher's on Special Assignment and Confidential Secretaries. It is clear to me that the priority for USD is not attracting and retaining teachers or keeping class size low as advertised in the Parcel Tax propaganda sent out prior to its vote, but rather in promoting the careers and earnings of the people associated with the jobs at the District Office. Part of UDEA's proposal consisted of a cap size CAP of 24 students for grade K-3 and 32 for grades 4 and 5. This offer was REJECTED by USD without any counter. Healthcare is currently a very divisive issue in contract negotiations. Teachers MUST pay thousands of dollars annually for healthcare premiums in order to obtain healthcare. All district administrators, other D.O. management staff and confidential secretaries have the ability to obtain healthcare at no out of pocket cost towards their premiums. Clearly it is not the inability of USD to afford the changes UDEA seeks to its contract. It is the UNWILLINGNESS of ELECTED SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS and District Office Personnel running negotiations to make the changes UDEA members seek.

All 5 members of my family are products of the excellent teachers in the USD. Compensation needs to reflect the amazing work they do every day with our students. No amount of technology will ever replace what our teachers deliver every day. Invest in them - it is the right thing to do.

During their formative years, our children spent a significant portion of their day with their teachers. Teachers help them learn facts, how to learn, to love learning, how to interact with other when their parents are not around among many other things. People with such an invaluable job should, at the very minimum, be properly compensated. Acting after we've lost one of our most valuable resources is not enough.

My daughter is an incredibly passionate and dedicated teacher in one of your schools. In addition, she has a masters degree in education and 2 credentials. She deserves much higher wages and better benefits. The teachers do all the work ....

Teachers are the people to whom you deliver your children every day. Should not their well-being be of utmost importance? BASIC!!!!!!!

I am a former USD student, a future USD parent and a teacher from a neighboring district. Fair pay retains good teachers and is the right thing to do.

Can the board explain to me why they voted in free Health Care for themselves for life when the cost to teachers is dramatically higher than neighboring districts and administration staff

For the District to say teachers and their families are not worthy of health care comensurate with that provided to administration is unconscionable. It is such unfairness that is driving excellent educators to seek alternative positions where they can find compensation that allows them to continue in their profession.

The budget exists, pay the teachers a competitive compensation package.
