This latest update is very nearly the straw that broke the camel's back. Fortunately better code writers than you have created extensions that fixed it, because if not I would be gone! This needs to stop. Being able to trim threads is vital not just to tumblr's vast roleplay community but to anyone who enjoys discussing anything over multiple posts without rudely cluttering their followers' dashes with untrimmed posts. Having to choose between all the comments on a post or none is going to hurt artists when their comments on their own work get removed, and make it easier for ill-intentioned people to claim artists' work for themselves.
This is the worst in a long line of extremely bad updates. Every once in a great while an update is great. Getting notified when your ask gets answered is wonderful for instance. Know what update you should do? A real messaging system that shows your sent messages, and being able to message someone right away once you've followed them.

I understand the point of the update but it's entirely flawed. I know it's so you can't alter other people's comments but you should be able to delete the reblogs one comment at a time, at least. It's vastly inconvenient and should at least be warned before it happens.

if there is no way to edit previous posts, the entire RP community is gonna fall apart here, it just doesn't work.

This update does nothing to help artists and everything to hurt roleplayers. A double fiasco. Please just revert it to the previous layout.

Please fix this. It's really hard to reply to things and the app crashes if posts get to long. We need to be able to cut our posts.

Staff, what the hell is with all the updates? Stop trying to fix what isn't broken. It's making Tumblr look worse and worse with each update.

A suggestion I have to fix this is to add an option for the users to choose which updates we, the users, want. Simply give a description of the update and an example to show what it does, for both desktop/laptop and mobile/tablet. After that have a button to "skip" so the user can skip the update.

Roleplayers are a very persistent bunch and I have seen people get around this: but people who produce original content can't fix this issue once they publish it since they can't go around and stop people. It also inconviences normal users who want to reblog something without some crappy comments attached without having to delete the original posts. At this rate: Tumblr will lose many of it's users who will much happily find a new platform to use that's actually user friendly. Please heed the advice, "If it's not broken, don't fix it"

I have new kit now and I've fixed it for myself but seriously, the staff need to stop doing this. Not only is it very ugly, it is very inconvenient for us roleplayers to have to deal with.

Tumblr updates [/shudders] I remember when they updated and added in the whole seeing notifs for when your ask gets answered. And that was great; if all updates were like that we'd have no need for this petition.
But lately the updates have been so bad; removing dashboard sidebar in favour of a shitty dropdown that doesn't work half the time, not allowing for html changes in posts without all changes being deleted, and now making it impossible to cut threads.
It's just such an inconvenience now and frankly each and every update makes me one step closer to just leaving the community. While I can see the value in this (in that you can keep comments that artists make on their work and its easier to delete the shitty comments people make), its still frustrating to have to deal with. As even when I'm on my personal, and I want to reblog something but delete a shitty comment. Its now harder to do that.
TL;DR: Stop updating with things that don't need to be updated; you're alienating the users you have on the website, and also making it harder for others to enter the website.
STOP SCREWING US OVER!!
just freaking change it back. please.
