We believe that young offender provision should be located in a more convenient location within the city and not located on the outskirts of Cardiff – an area which has very few appropriate amenities for young offenders.
I/We, the undersigned, object to Labour’s plans to relocate the Cardiff Youth Offenders centre to 150 Thornhill Road, Cardiff.
The momentum behind this is undeniable. Thornhill deserves to be heard.

This is a poorly thought out proposal which serves the needs of the Council to use a white-elephant building, rather than the needs of the young offenders. Putting this centre in a residential estate where children play is a disaster waiting to happen.

I am 13 and I don't want to walk home from the bus stop after school when there are lots of young offenders about.

How are these young offenders going to get to/from this site. It's a long walk from the train station and hardly served by buses.

This centre would be better placed in an area in which these young offenders are able to access without excessive travelling and cost e.g. City centre location. The proposed centre is in a suburban residential area with little amenities for these young offenders and poor access /parking for proposed staff and visitors.

Would prefer to see this used as the other option in the report....which is for autistic and disabled children. It's a beautiful environment with plenty of room for play areas etc etc. again it looks as though the kids with anti social behaviour get the rewards.

Having wasted £1.6m building a home that is not fit for purpose, the council try to cover up their mistake by using the building for a totally inappropriate use. They should haul up the project management team an have them all disciplined. Then get the building put right. The other problem is they cannot recruit staff or attract a private agency to run the building without carrying out the alterations.

We don't want a YOS in Thornhill. There will be mayhem with traffic and parking not to mention the effect on property prices !
What about our children's safety and the security of our homes ?
Locate it somewhere more central and not where it will effect people's homes and lives !!
Think of your constituents and not your pockets for a change Cardiff Council !!!
