Stop The Warehouse: Protect Our Gilberts Community

We, the residents of Gilberts, Illinois, strongly oppose the proposed rezoning and variance request presented by Plote Investments LLC that would pave the way for a large warehouse development in our village. This development poses significant concerns for our community, including increased traffic congestion & accidents, potential negative impacts on property values, environmental, noise and light pollution, public health concerns, wildlife displacement and a shift away from the character of our village. In addition, Rutland Township, which the majority of Gilberts is part of, would only receive a small fraction of any tax benefit from this development. The majority of the development is planned within Dundee Township, therefore they would receive the majority of the tax benefit. That means Rutland would not receive a substantial tax gain for its fire department, roads or waste disposal, that would all be servicing this development.
We believe that this type of industrial development is not in the best long-term interests of Gilberts and will negatively impact the quality of life for its residents. We would like to see the area remain commercial development (retail, small businesses, restaurants) as there is a limited amount of commercially zoned areas in Gilberts. Other alternatives could include residential, recreational facilities, community gardens or a conservation area. This petition calls on the Village of Gilberts to reject the rezoning and variance request and prioritize development that aligns with the community's vision for a vibrant and sustainable future.
By signing this petition, you are adding your voice to the growing number of residents who believe that this warehouse project is detrimental to our community. Let's stand together to protect the character and quality of life we cherish in Gilberts, as one of the safest places to live in Illinois.
