I am horrifed to learn about this. That sounds dramatic, but I mean what I write. These kinds of things are happening all over the south east and ruining historical areas and beautiful natural areas and resources. Poor communities are often targeted, which is cynical and manipulative. There are many long term, constructive ways to boost the local community and economy. For example, I am a screenwriter and one of my TV series (not yet in production) is set in Monteagle. If the series gets made, it would be partly filmed there and brings lots of work and outside interest into the Monteagle community. If that huge Truck stop is built, it would ruin the chances of Monteagle being used as a location, as it would ruin the historical little town as well as much of its natural beauty and resources.

Establishment of a large commercial truck stop in Monteagle is antithetical to the primary attraction that the Cumberland Plateau presents for tourism development., that is the mountains natural beauty and serenity. The project should be stopped.

Let's come up with a better plan for our mountain. Just say NO to the truck stop!

The size/scale, location, and lack of due diligence are all very concerning. Please slow down, and listen to the community voices before it's too late.

As a former teacher we must not allow this truck stop to be built in this community so close to our young people and neighborhoods. Monteagle is really beginning to become even more of a tourist destination and we need to find a better use of this land. We are already allowing too much of our beautiful state to be compromised. We must fight to keep Monteagle as a beautiful natural mountain retreat. Please be brave and vote no to this location. Do what is right and protect this treasure of our city.

I shudder to think what the far-reaching impact will be on our cherished mountain top community, both environmentally and socially. My greatest concern is the sex trafficking which is abundant at truck stops. This will add to the already drug-plagued concerns of the county. Please stop the truck stop!

The damage that a truckstop would cause to the air, water and soil quality needs to be carefully considered. Many of us residents of Monteagle have much to lose from this venture.

The plateau is increasing in popularity and has a bright future, without a truck stop We have been supporting many exciting projects- the Mt Goat Trail, the South Cumberland State Park, the Community Fund, not to mention the local restaurants and other ammenities.

Unthinkable blight on this treasured spot.

This truck stop venture will be of little or no economic benefit to the real Monteagle community following its completion. So sad to read about these incursions on the mountain. JEG

Stop the killing of our community. This truck stop is (to say the least) an eyesore.

Truckstops are highly intrusive economic development and need to be thoroughly studied and not rushed.

The main draw to the Monteagle is its natural scenery and small town charm. Please preserve the town. This will have a negative impact.
