I deeply concerned about the "reform" of special education for students. Many students need to be with peers who are close in ability so that they have the opportunity to learn and develop in an environment that will support their needs. Congregated classrooms provide that opportunity; it allows those those students to be "included" rather than excluded in all arenas: academic, social/emotional. Some of students cannot find peers with whom to connect due to their low or high level of functioning. Putting all students together will reduce their opportunities to learn.

TDSB process flawed. Highest needs students will suffer most.

I am really shocked about what TDSB is doing by "equity"! Every student has been given equal opportunity to go through the same procedures to enter these specialized programs if the student meets the requirements and qualifications. That is “equity”. The specialized programs are not for every student for the initial purposes. Making the specialized programs available to every student is a big joke. What is different between the “specialized” and “regular”? We have to admit every student is different. We have to find the gifted students and make them more outstanding. We have to make the education system more competitive and specified. The world is getting more and more competitive. We need outstanding young Canadians to lead this country. TDSB, what you are doing is to abandon these gifted young people and to kill this country’s future! The Enhancing Equity Task Force team, not matter how you chose your wording in the report, you just want to kill these programs. You wanted to remove the art program, then STEM programs, and now the gifted programs. You are totally a trouble maker. TDSB, stop doing these stupid things, dismiss the Enhancing Equity Task Force team immediately!

I am strongly opposed to the cancellation or reform of the gifted programs in elementary and high school. Taking this away would be to undermine the best interests of the students and education in Toronto.

I am strongly opposed to the cancellation or reform of the congregated gifted programs in elementary school and high school. My children need extra challenge, in every subject, all day. It is ridiculous to think that gifted students can be properly accommodated in the regular classroom.

Don't destroy valuable programs that have proven their educational worth. De-streaming ensures students do not get the help and instruction they need.

Stealth policy, parents are completely unaware

Congregated gifted classes are critical for some gifted children to receive an equitablr education. No changes should be made to the robust programming available currently in congregated gifted classrooms, nor should any be removed in the TDSB. Congregated gifted classes should be available to all gifted children, where sought, regardless of their socioeconomic, racial, ethnic or religious backgrounds.

Our daughter benefitted inordinately from the gifted program at Northern, and it would be unfortunate if reforms aiming to help underperforming students ending up inadvertently disservicing others. The TDSB should reconsider the EETF's recommendations insofar as they threaten the quality gifted programs currently on offer.

The fact that the TDSB would no longer allow students the opportunity to apply to various schools within its Board is inequitable, unfair, and will do a disservice to students across the City. OA must not be cancelled.

Kids are not one size. Dragging everyone to the same needs/style/speed will result in alienation and poor results at both ends of the spectrum.

Does the TDSB want the High School dropout rate to skyrocket?

Please don't destream the system I would have never completed high school and I wouldn't be in post secondary now.

Reject the TDSB EETF recommendations. Have the TDSB give much more time for feedback, broader re-consult & better options. The process leading to the vote has been opaque and exclusive. Responses from the TDSB to letters stating concern have been vague. Congregated, gifted programs are necessary, and instead enrolment have been sabotaged.
