Seems ridiculous to do incredible amounts of work and programming for equity in younger grades, then take away all options that ensure equity in higher grades.

This is not going to help each individual student. They belong somewhere special designed for them, not one program for everyone where only a few students can succeed in. This is not equitable. Equality and equity are different.

It is essential to maintain and expand the programs we have. Instead, the board is threatening to cut programs and expect teachers to juggle a huge variety of students. We need more help within the classrooms, as well as specialized classes!

I have 3 children in different Specialty programs, Because they are different, they have different needs. It make sense to have the programs.

Why won't you protect the gifted programs like you protected the arts schools? Isn't THAT inequitable?

This will affect my niece severely as she needs the special ed program and other things so she won't get fall through the cracks. Our children are our future! How can we not do everything we can to prepare them for that future? Let's not fall them!!

As a parent of a kid who needs these classes, I would have lost my job were it not for this kind of access. I'm a single parent, sole provider.

I am strongly opposed to de-streaming in the TDSB and to the proposed 'reforms' to the gifted program. My children have benefited from the gifted program in many ways. They have been challenged academically and they have been able to learn with a similar group of peers. I think that the gifted program has been key to their success.

Canadian education ranks among the top in the world and of special note is that with its EXISTING approach it is noted internationally as producing equal educational outcomes for new immigrants as with others. This equity achievement is threatnened by this poorly researched and ill informed set of proposals to change the Ontario education approach.

This is a rushed and unfair change to the education system that does not benefit my children in any way.
All gifted students must be allowed to attend a strong segregated gifted program where the teachers can encourage them to think critically about the curriculum and challenge them to push themselves and make mistakes. In the regular classroom, the majority of time is spend teaching the kids the the curriculum. In the gifted classroom, the teacher covers the curriculum briefly so that the majority of time can be spend critically assessing the implications of what what learned and applying it to life and the world. The way gifted and non-gifted students need to be taught is incompatible and both types of students should not be placed in the same class. Let's not limit the potential of an important segment of our population just because some minority groups feel left out. Instead, let's just make sure ALL gifted kids get access to a program that will help them succeed.
