Siargao is a beautiful island, it is understandable that one would see that as an opertunity to increase tourism by making it more accessible to the world BUT this is counter productive as the charm of the island will be lost by doing so, and no in will want to come. Large scale main stream tourism is a competitive and fickle buissiness. Lots of other places in the Philippines/ surrounding countries already cater to this and it will be difficult to earn market share amongst these well established mainstream destinations. An international airport will not be a sound investment and will be detrimental to the people of the island and its environment. Please consider spending this money towards sustainable small scale tourism that will not disrupt the fragile balance that these islanders maintain with their land. Bottom line is that these recourses can be spent towards initiatives that will benefit the locals more profoundly. Please do not sell this as a means of bettering the locals economic situation because if that truly were the goal this money would be spent a lot differently.

I'am not in favor with the Siargao International Airport! There are so much things to be developed aside from the airport. They should focus first on the waste management, better education, and health facilities!

Siargao is not ready to handle such fast tourism development. There is not waste management infrastructure to handle the waste of tourist consumption. This project sees only the money at short term benefit and don't care about the wellbeing of locals and the negative environmental consequences. Please do not open an international airport in Siargao.

For everybody who wants to keep Siargao beautiful as it still is, please, sign petition below. This small piece of land can not accomodate a huge traffic of tourists – so many things to be done beforehand, no need to push that huge-scale changes if we know that it can destroy that unique place and lives of many people.
Let's not make it another story of used-to-be.

No need for an international airport. Just fix the current airport. Having an internatlonal airport does not mean will have international flights. Please prioritize other more important matters other than an international airport.

I live in General luna but I'm also from other part of siargao, we accept the fact that siargao is growing specially general luna but it's really hard if we lose authenticity of the island the pure happiness, people work here but not only for the money put the natural companions.

Having international airport at a small island does not make sense at all. Make another one probably in a larger land area of the Philippines. But the whole point why I signed this petition is I care for Siargao Island. The solitude and peacefulness will be gone if it will be occupied by big establishments and more people. Please stop this stupidity!
