An international airport doesn't help the locals at all. Instead it's a greedy project for investors who care for nothing or no one else but money. Why don't you instead put that money to good use, like build a hospital with the right facilities. I've been coming back to siargao since 2008 and they don't need this at all. Not this, not big resorts. For once think about the welfare of the locals instead of your money. I hope no more lands will be sold to greedy investors

It is clear that the International Airport is a sign of progress in the Island but they have not thought about the value of the Island. The government should focus first on the people on the Island, better hospital improvements - better hospital services for locals and tourist, better security - its clear that the police forces are not effective on this since there are still robbery, trash - no proper dumpsite - should focus on implementing recycle or much better if they can implement plastic free, road infrastructures - better road signs and lamp posts to the blind curves and dark ares (esp at night).
There are so many things the government can do to improve the lives of the people in Siargao, they should focus on that than focus on the International Airport - which has more money for the local government.
I am signing this petition because I love the Island and its people. Progress is good but not this one, just yet.

Surfers and tourists from around the globe have gone to Siargao in whatever means are available to date. Hence, a bigger infrastructure, let alone one that’ll destroy the province’s existing ecosystem & environment, isn’t needed. Re-focus efforts on other issues at hand.

Please keep the island pristine!!! Would be nice to have a petition to stop the Siargao movie as well. This movie will be more destructive to the island in the immediate future. Supporting the airport and the movie supports destroying the island.

Don't let money control this islands future! If you want to build these things you must first prepare the iskand and its people. Siargao needs hospitals, better schools, sanitation. All these things are part of infrastructure that will help this island grow to the point an airport can be supported. Right now it can't.
