I would never vote for a politician who would support this.. this is ludacris. Open space has way more value than this... this is a 20th century solution... Lake County is known for it's open spaces and quality of life, this only helps to eliminate both.... how about spending the money on the east-west roads we already have... I'll move to Wisconsin if this passes.... use a train.... if you want urban, live in Chicago....

I am against this plan; because of the tax hikes and intrusion on people's lives.

WE need improved roads, especially East-West...but all roads widened to four lanes NOT A TOLLWAY.

I am strongly opposed to extending Rte 53. We decided to live in Hawthorn Woods for the land, trees, forests, nature, quiet - NOT for congestion, pollution, constant traffic noise.

Guys, people are leaving Illinois in droves. Our property taxes are ridiculously high, our politicians are corrupt (most of them), and our quality of life is always in peril. The Rte. 53 extension is a prime example. I don't understand how "strangers" have the right to come into my community and tell me that I have to have a tollway built in my backyard. No. You lost your chance. You should have built it in the 1960s, when no one lived here. You cannot take away my quality of life 40 years later! I bought my house for the birds and the wildlife and the quiet and the sense of country. You CANNOT take this away. How dare you? Where do YOU live? Can I come and build a massive road in your backyard? You won't mind, will you? Come on! It'll get me to work 5 minutes quicker! That's a great reason to ruin people's quality of life. This is NOT a case of buying a house near the airport and then complaining about the noise. I WAS HERE FIRST! If you want to build this road, here are my conditions: I don't want to see it. I don't want to hear it. I don't want to breathe in the cancer-causing air from the vehicle exhaust. I don't want any wildlife disturbed. I don't want to see lights from it at night. I don't want to feel the rumbles from heavy trucks. I most certainly don't want to pay for it. I don't want to endure traffic from it being built. If you can meet all these conditions, then we'll talk.

There are too many negative outcomes to the residents of Lake County if the Rte 53. Corridor is built.
