I am totally opposed to this and will vote against anyone who supports this. I moved to Long Grove to avoid the environment issues associated with this extension. I will be discussing this issue will all of my neighbors.

This road is an economic, environmental and quality of life nightmare! I truly believe that if all Lake County residents better understood the facts, that marginal 'Yes' consensus from a few years ago would turn into a resounding "HELL NO!!"

I am opposed to the Route 53 extension. It will reduce the quality of life as we know it, it will destroy the wetlands, and compromise the water supply (we are on wells here). It will destroy the habitat of numerous endangered species. And it will bypass our area of commerce. Property values have already suffered considerably, and will only get worse. The cost to build this small (12 mile) portion of road is excessive at $3 billion. Who will benefit from this? We do not need higher taxes and more expenses. We need a viable, well-thought out solution to a traffic issue. Let's break the mold of poor decision making and reckless spending in this state. Improving public transportation and/or the existing roadways seems like a much more viable plan. Let's work on improving the beauty and natural resources of Lake County. Do not go forward with the Route 53 extension.

I am totally opposed to the building of the rte 53 extension. It will reduce the quality of life as we know it, it will destroy the wetlands, compromise the water supply that so many of us on well water count on, it will destroy numerous endangered species; all just to line the pockets of greedy businesses. We do not need higher taxes, more taxes, monies diverted from our public services, and schools. What we need is a solution. We should be putting our efforts into alternative transportation, maximizing the roadways that we do have. Improving the roadways and intersections that are not functioning at a level to releive gridlock. Why are we not trying to maintain the beauty of Lake County in stead of destroying what we have?

We already pay enough in Taxes.. We DO NOT NEED THIS ROAD. FIX the ones we have Widen 22, 83, 45, Gilmore, Route 12.!!! Give the Tollway these roads to maintain if the state is too broke to expand them. 22 took years to widen and IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN 4 LANES From the Tri state to Route 12... What's with that? ??
