I do not support reasoning of school district 308 due to negative impact on the children having to commute to further location and the negative impact to the property values on my neighborhood

Please do not move our kids from these schools! Many of us have bought our homes due to Southbury being so close to all three schools. Changing the boundaries would severely impact our lives and make us change our minds to living in Oswego for the next few decades.

I do not want to remove my children from my own subdivision school. They are within walking distance to all 3. This is a huge issue with daycare!

With my background in logistics of over twenty years, I cannot comprehend the logic of taking walking distance students and now putting them on a bus. For the school district, and usas taxpayers, this should be considered a "freebie" in that there is no taxpayer expense getting these kids to school.

I wholeheartedly support this petition to maintain the alignment of Southbury students to OHS, Traugber and Southbury schools! The third party consulting firm's alignment assessment should please consider the following when making a final decision on the boundaries:
Southbury resident's selection of our home locations (based on school alignment).
Our current school's traditional ties.
Our home's proximity to the aforementioned schools .

We love Southbury, Traughber, and OHS. We see no reason to bus our children further away when there are schools within walking distance in our neighborhood.

I strongly disagree with any proposal that would change school boundaries to move Southbury subdivision children away from Traughber Junior High and Oswego High School. Proximity to Traughber and Oswego High was a major factor in our decision to buy a house in Southbury. Since Southbury is located so close to these schools, we were very confident that Southbury would always remain in these schools’ boundaries. It’s inefficient and more expensive to bus children to remotely located schools when they have schools located within walking distance. It also creates hardship for parents by increasing travel distance to these schools. I am concerned that changing school boundaries away from Traughber and Oswego High will have an adverse affect on Southbury property values since proximity to these schools has been a significant factor in most homeowner’s purchasing decision.

I have students at all 3 schools: Southbury, Traughber and OHS. Forcing our children to be bussed far from home when they are within walking distance to these schools is wrong. Students in Southbury neighborhood have joined and auditioned for bands, music ensembles, sports and extracurricular teams at Traughber and OHS based on their enthusiasm and desire to be part of a community that is larger then themselves. Changing schools would adversely affect students involved in these programs that are important to them. Please keep our current boundary intact!!

We chose to build our home in the Southbury community with schools as our number one deciding factor. It doesn't make sense for our children to attend a school that is further away. I am wondering how much more money the proposed plan will cost the district in transportation costs.
Keep our kids in Traughber and OHS!
