I do not believe the options presented for Southbury students in the redistricting power point presentation lack logic and common sense. Aside from how ridiculous it would be to move an entire subdivision of students to another school, when they live less than a mile away from OHS and Traughber, you also have the expense of bussing and the potential risk our children will be exposed to on the road.

We built this house just based on the schools our daughter would attend. It's unacceptable to move our kids to another school when we have schools in walking distance!

We have one Sophomore and two in eighth grade this year and do not want them to have to move schools and away from current friends and teachers.

I'm a concerned parent who is opposed to the changes being proposed for the Southbury community. My two boys walk to Traughber (which I can see from my house) and my oldest walks home from OHS whenever he stays after school. This lengthens their school day to bus them to schools further away. It also puts a burden on our family for extra curricular activities (that they are able to walk to and from right now) when we are at work.

I am signing this petition as we just moved in a few weeks ago to the Southbury subdivision and a big reason why we selected to live here is the schools that this neighborhood feed into. We would be extremely upset if the boundaries changed and are completely on board with supporting this petition.

This proposal makes zero sense financially or is time efficient , and would cause major transportation issues for families for of Southbury. We chose to move to this subdivision based on proximity to school and ease of Transportation. We demand the board sees the problems this will cause and remove this ridiculous scenario from the proposal.

It is not fiscally responsible to bus our children to another school when we can see the current schools from our subdivision. With the impending construction on Wolf this is also a transportation safety issue that needs to be considered.

It would make absolutely no sense to move our childer from their current schools, due to the close proximity we have to all 3 of them. All of which are within walking distance

There seems to be a lot of discussion by the committee members about the projected utilization/capacity numbers, and while this is a very impotant factor to look at, it is definitely not the only factor the board should be considering. Even so, if the board were just to consider this number, none of the schools are projected to be at capacity! Traughber's projected number was in the 90% range, which is high, but it is not at 100%. There is room for our kids there - why bus them somewhere else and incur that expense.....it makes no sense! The board must also consider what is in the best interest of all our children before disrupting their educational system. They need to be able to feel like they are part of a community. Most of us can see Traughber from our front porches and we can hear OHS football games from our back yards. Our kids walk to and from school with one another - we all know each other and look out for each other. This is the sense of community we want to see continued and for the board to make any changes to it would be a disservice to us all, but most definitely to our children, who are not just numbers on a piece of paper.

We moved to southbury BECAUSE of the schools that our son would eventually be attending. Doesn't make sense to move our kids to a school further away!!!

Like most others in our community, we moved to this neighborhood specifically for Traughber and OHS! A big part of why we love where we live is because we can hear the band playing and the football games right in our back yards! By re-zoning, you will be hurting a lot of families not to mention spending ridiculous and unnecessary amounts of tax dollars with bus routes alone! Here, our children can walk or bike to school. We're talking an entire LARGE neighborhood here! What a disservice to our community. We strongly feel that this is wrong and will not give up until you reconsider.

Summer Gate resident. We moved here specifically for our family to attend Oswego High School, NOT Oswego East. Oswego High School is practically in our backyard, we sing along to the band as we can hear it clearly from our yard and from inside our home. This idea of forcing Southbury residents to commute to Oswego East and Plank is simply not thought out and ridiculous.
