Stop the Rezone (Tippecanoe County, IN Case R-2820)

Over the last few years we have saturated West Lafayette area with high density housing. We worry about the impact to TSC school district.

I have significant concerns how High-Density housing will impact TSC schools, traffic & personal safety as a result of the proposed entrance into the development and the change R3 zoning will bring to the intent of our existing single family home neighborhoods. And why is there a need for High-Density housing along this stretch of St. Rd. 26???

Zoning should remain the same.

I recently moved from The Orchard having lived there for 15 years. It is a beautiful neighborhood of single family homes and allowing a high density student housing complex in the back yard of this neighborhood does not make any sense. Increased vehicular traffic when students leave and return from classes on the narrow State Road 26 could lead to increased accidents. Doe we really need another large student housing complex when Purdue is considering capping enrollment? What is the vacancy rate at existing student complexes and can the ,market support another?

West Lafayette need this want or want this. Keep this area single family.

R3 zoning is just one step closer to an unwanted urban environment.

Keep homes along SR26 single family housing which is in the best interest of all!

Please oppose this!

County needs to provide leadership with the best interest of single family homeowners. This type of housing would be preferred by many graduate students and temporary trainees that have families and children. Has the impact on TSC been considered?

Strongly oppose. This is an extraordinarily bad move and completely unnecessary. Tippecanoe does NOT need more high-density housing!

Septic drainage not adequate

Definitely opposed to R3 zoning in this area. Existing home values would suffer. Additional traffic on SR-26 would pose additional safety risks. This is not a suitable area for high density housing.

There are plenty of other areas closer to US231 which are more suitable for development into R3 housing. I strongly oppose the rezoning of this property as per the petition.

I do not support the proposed re-zoning change from R1 to R3. This change would negatively impact our neighborhood, strain our already stretched first responders, and bring additional traffic to an area that already has dangerous entrances on curves/hills on a state road. This re-zone is not needed!

I believe this will decrease the value of all our properties in the Western Corridor. West Lafayette's tax base may not benefit by allowing the development of cheaper Transient Housing marketed towards students whom typically pay less in taxes. Let's keep West Lafayette growing by attracting higher valued neighbors. The opportunity is in the industrial parks, Purdue employees and local industry whom choose not to live in Lafayette... due to high density housing.

This will increase traffic in a blind spot and decrease the value of my house.

We just moved into this area six months ago and paid for the real estate and quiet location. Low rent density houses will bring unwanted traffic and lower our property values. Families do not want the lowered values that a property like this would bring. We also do not want the additional noise or the added burden it would bring to fire and police resources. This would be a barrier for folks wanting to build higher valued housing. No one wants to be beside monochromatic, low end student housing. Keep it on campus.

I don’t want this land to be refined to high density housing. I don’t feel that local schools and emergency services can support that many more residents in this area. High density housing will negatively impact the quality of life in my neighborhood, house values will go down, traffic safety would finish on 26 and crime would increase.
