I agree that if there are concerns regarding the chickens that an all out ban is not the answer. Perhaps what would be more in line with Lake Lucerne would be guidelines on number of chickens allowable, coop placement and "nuissance plan" if they get loose - but I feel this should be for all domestic animals on a property, not just chickens.

When I read the breeze about the chicken ban I was saddened. I will support this petition. Chickens can be beneficial, provide food and generally be fun - they have distinct personalities. I've had chickens and ducks at another home in California. They kept down the population of spiders and in our case, snails, which had been a big problem and all but vanished within weeks of having them forage.
Perhaps instead of the ban, we add bylaws based on our counties rules and regulations, such as how many per yard, coop size & placement on property, etc.

This is absurd. This is Lake Lucerne, a friendly community. The chickens are awesome. I swear, somebody always has to complain about something.
Any chickens owns by Foxes are kept in line to begin with! I say LEAVE THE CHICKENS ALONE!

Oh my! How do I edit this!!!??? This is a recipe for chocolate soufflé that somehow got blended in with my comment!! Don't add Xanthan Gum and whip chickens! Chickens are our friends! If it wasn't for chickens, we wouldn't have eggs to whip for soufflés!!
It was supposed to read if someone wants to have chickens in their yard let them. Who cares?!!! I hate this stupid iPad!

We're 3 doors down and aren't disturbed by the chickens - we appreciate them. Are people hearing them? We don't, so I'm in the dark on this. If there are issues, maybe there can be guidelines that would satisfy any specific opposers' issues (number of chickens per size of property, etc) without banning them outright.

Chicken soup, fried chicken, chicken and rice, chicken a la king, rotisserie chicken, chicken pot pie, chicken wings, chicken nuggets, breaded chicken, chicken sandwiches, not to mention eggs. Yumm! What's not to like about chickens? You don't have a rooster, do you? That would be a real deal breaker for me.... Do they wander into the street or chase the neighbor kids? I'd love to know why there's a petition against you.
I'd like to petition against leaf blowers myself and if I had to listen to them for more than a month in the fall I might start one. Booming stereos too, and these rotten kids on my lawn. Get off my lawn! Rotten kids.
Joking aside, I signed your petition, not because I'm hoping my neighbors get a hundred chickens. Rather because I think we should be encouraged to handle things without more deed restrictions. Obviously your chickens are bothering someone, have you spoken with all your neighbors? Maybe they have good reason to take issue, I don't know. I'm upset that your neighbor and now you are trying to drag the rest of us into this mess. Your chickens don't bother me because I don't live near you.
Good luck with your neighbors and I hope you folks can work this out without putting any more restrictions on our deeds.

We live next door to the Foxes and have enjoyed seeing their chickens in the yard. I am not in favor of a legal restriction regarding chickens, especially in Lake Lucerne where I think residents have a long history of getting along and working things out.
