The future of world depends upon plastic recycling, production and pollution.

Nurdles or microbeads are strong, little plastic particles that are under 5mm and don't dissolve or degrade in water. Once in the water, microbeads can damagingly affect marine life and their food chain, human wellbeing and the environment. These little plastics endure in the atmosphere as they are practically difficult to expel. Remove raw unrecyclable plastic at source now, avoid manufacturing it and push manufacturers to find recyclable alternatives for their goods immediately.

We, a group of students are working on Nurdle pollution as our advocacy project and outline an action plan that focuses on accomplishing two aims:

  • Raising public awareness on nurdles and microbeads
  • Pass the bill on banning all nurdle products being produced / import/export to or out in Australia.

Reaching this milestone feels surreal after so many weeks of silent progress. It is exhausting to look at the scale of this pollution every single day, but knowing I am not fighting alone keeps me moving forward.
