Please do not add to the insanity of white nationalism grabbing the cross, wrapping itself in the flag and thumping your new Bible. How about a Bible for lamentation and repentance for genocide, slavery, and imperialism? Much needed and better for the soul of the American church. It would actually be more truly a blessing than what you’re offering

No. Just no. Zondervan which has always been identified with quality is better than this! It in flames a dangerous nationalism that just does not exist in Scripture.

I have purchased and read scores of books published by Zondervan. Never can I recall your company releasing a book with the specific intention of creating suffering, division, and even danger by instilling hate, ignorance, and bigotry among its readers. Even worse, I can't imagine Zondervan decision-makers insisting on going ahead with this damage once it has been reminded of it. I have worked as an author, editor, and marketer for numerous religious publishers where I have sat in on meetings to determine the likely market for a book and any possible negative ramifications. I can imagine you will have discussions weighing the moral, political, and financial impact of whatever decision you make. Be assured you will lose money no matter what you decide. Be assured there will be debates about the political resistance no matter what you decide. Your only option is to do the moral thing. Avoid sliding toward the Fascist Nazi ideology that has fueled the publication of this book.

This is blasphemous and must be stopped. You are promoting nationalism, not Christianity. You are in effect adding some of our national documents to Scripture. This is idolatrous.

“For God so loved THE WORLD” not just America! “Jesus loves the little children of THE WORLD” not just Americans! Christian nationalism is disgusting and this obsession with patriotism needs to stop!

Yes, an abomination, but there was apparently a 2009 precursor - Nelson's "American Patriot's Bible". That was NKJV, Zondervan's is NIV, but the profit motive seems the same.

This ill-conceived project is saturated in Christian nationalism which is corrosive to trans-border authentic Christian witness in the world, and to our pluralistic democracy. It’s not too late to stop this nonsense.

This project is patently idolatrous in its conjoining of American nationalism and the Christian faith. It further represents American Christianity's slide into a quasi-state religion which worships and venerates the United States while also claiming to serve the Lord and Redeemer of every nation. This combination is both religiously abhorrent and morally dangerous, as history has time and again shown that religion combined with nationalism leads to the justification of state perpetrated atrocities. To quote the church father Tertullian, "Should we carry a flag? No, it is an affront to Christ."

To put these ridiculous documents (that are babies by comparison) to accompany scripture that Christians and Jews have held sacred for thousands of years is an abomination. It wreaks of exclusivity, racism, and xenophobia.
