THIS PETITION IS TO STOP JOHN CARROLL FROM USING THE BOOK, "THE PEOPLES HISTORY", AS A TEXTBOOK IN OUR SCHOOL .
This is not serious historical work. It is a piece of "popular culture" propaganda designed to stir up resentment.
Howard Zinn was a Communist. According to Zinn, America is bad and has been oppressive to its people and the world since it was founded. I did not find mention of one kind or good thing America has done in its entire existence.
Howard Zinn admits that he hopes his book causes a revolt of the middle class against the existing order. He freely admits this bias: "..it is a history disrespectful of governments and respectful of people's movements of resistance.
This book and its attitude towards our country is nothing I want to teach my child, let alone pay money for them to do it.
Please sign and forward on to any parent/grandparent of John Carroll Students.
Mr. Durkin used the approval of this is the book that is used for AP College boards. It only reinforced my stance on this book. Our Colleges have become a hot house for political indoctrination. The new Social media star, Ms. Stallworth is the one who is using this book in her Honors History class.
Feel free to look up the book on Amazon, read some of the reviews. The ones that like the book only prove my case further. This book is hateful to America and is racially divisive .

As an historian and college professor, I can state unequivocally that Howard Zinn’s “work” is a disgrace to historians. He did not follow established academic protocol for research by using primary sources. His work is heavily reliant on secondary sources, hearsay and taking quotes of his subjects completely out of context. Zinn is an avowed Marxist with a less then stellar record as a professor. He has repeatedly admitted that he has no love for the United States or our Constitution. For more information please read “Debunking Howard Zinn” by Mary Grabar.
