I am a resident of the Oconee Crossing subdivision. I have been a resident of Oconee County for 21 years. There is no need for another grocery store at the intersection of GA53 and US78 as it is already a very busy intersection with multiple accidents annually.

Please, please don’t make beautiful Oconee County another Gwinnett or Dekalb County. Most of us have invested our lives and money into this wonderful county because of what it beholds not because of aggressive, senseless development.

This rezoning request should be denied. Drive down any stretch of a highway in Gwinnett County, with its never ending sea of parking lots and big box stores, and tell me you would want that for Oconee County.
There are already enough places for big, soulless strip malls, drive-throughs and big-box stores. Please don't turn this county into another shopping center hellscape like Gwinnett!

Thank you to all the people who showed up to last night's planning commission meeting at the Oconee County Court House. Only one planning commissioner voted "no" last night. I could not see his name but he was two seats left of the chairman. Mark Elder was the first to vote "for" the rezone to B2 after adding a berm. Essentially implying that would stop the sounds, light pollution, smells and keep us from seeing all the traffic and commerce that will be going on all day every day a few feet away from our backyards. What a joke!
We need more emails going to our commissioners or this is a done deal. We don't mind the small B1 businesses coming in. We expected that with the B1 zoning when we bought the property. What we don't need are the 4 fast food drive-through businesses and the giant grocery store that the developer wants. These are the exact types of businesses that will adversely affect the quality of life in our neighborhood. I never would have bought a home that would eventually border this level of commerce.

I'm not opposed to growth, however we don't need to be another Gwinnett County.
That area was zoned B1 for a reason and needs to stay that way.
Traffic on Hwy 78 is terrible now and this will compound it even more.
