Being able to use TerpBucks at locations near my classes is incredibly useful..especially on packed days.

You are fixing a system that isn't broken. We shouldn't have to buy an "extended" plan in order to buy things from the 24hr shop and stamp. That should be included in the base price. We are busy students as we attend UMD. We don't always have time to sit down and eat this change is not necessary and has nothing to do with creating a social environment and saving take out containers. It's a gimmick that the University is using to charge students more to eat where they really want to eat. Stamp and the 24. We already pay almost $50,000 a year to go here. You really need more money? But you can afford biometric scanners right? This is NOT a good idea

Takeout meals are the majority of my meals as a student here at UMD. Due to a hectic schedule, I commonly end up eating my meals either on the way to class or in class. The ozzi boxes are ideal because they provide the option of takeout, while also reducing waste. Not only is take out essential to the everyday student's dining due to closely scheduled classes, but removing this option is not necessarily going to make the school greener. With the options of all you can eat, the school will be producing more food that will be put to waste at the end of the day when students do not have time to finish and do not have the option to bring it with them and must settle on discarding it. Excess food is not environmentally mindful and should also be taken into account with this major decision.

When I have classes back to back all day with only 10-15 minute intervals in between, carry out is the only chance I have to eat a meal if I want to eat before 5:30 PM. I also frequently depend on TerpBucks when I can't make it to a diner, and requiring we pay an extra $200-$400 to get something we've gotten used to being included in our (perfectly fine) dining plans is unfair. This new plan would make many days of my week excruciating.

As a Music Major, most of my classes are in CSPAC where the only option for food is Applause. Those that aren't in CSPAC are across campus, and I have very little time to get there. I have classes from 8am-5pm every day with no prolonged breaks, so to-go meals are my saving grace. This is especially true during the fall semesters when I am involved in marching band. Taking away the to-go option will make my life increasingly harder. Also, charging more money for more dining dollars is unfair to people like Music Majors who spend all day in one building and some times have no time to go to the diner for food. With Applause being the only option in many cases, I shouldn't have to pay more for the currency that can be used there.

New dinning promotes the already rampant obesity of this nation.
New dinning plan does not allow for people to eat on the go conveniently.

As a music major, I spend approximately 90% of my time in Applause Cafe. During my busy days when I only have 30 minutes between my piano class and my noon recitals, I usually drop by Applause and get a quick sandwich. If TerpBucks are removed from the plan, I will not be able to get lunch with my meal plan. The TerpBucks allow me to conveniently eat food when I have small increments of time between one class and the next.
I also enjoy helping my friends off-campus eat when they are low on money or food. My abundance of Dining Points allows for this so that I can still eat while helping my friends. After all, the diner food is excellent and deserves to be enjoyed by all students and friends. THAT builds a greater sense of community than forcing students to eat in dining halls and abolishing take out options.

The new plan forces a lifestyle on students that isn't compatible with all. I don't have time during the day to sit and eat lunch and prefer to carry it out or eat something small. Forcing me to adapt my eating habits is an unnecessary enforcement of a policy that is trying to fix something that isn't broken. Keep the dining meal plan as it is

The no carry out option is ridiculous. Also I do not trust the university with my handprint. I can get a new swipe if someone steals that but I cannot get a new handprint. The university has been hacked before and it could happen again

This limits our options severely. I feel that this is another scam to take our money. This will only leave UMD students feeling disappointed with their food options, not to mention the substantial amount of money that we will have to spend for now on.
