Stop the NBP Proposed Hazards and Comprehensive Zoning By-Laws

The hazards have been determined using insufficient mapping which does not take into account the specific topography and elevation of each site affected. Such specific bylaw changes need accurate mapping!

Stop trying to control and devalue our property. Respect individuals right to own property. Quit trying to take control of decisions that should be made only by the property owner. We don't want a communist agenda in the MNBP.

When the intention appears to be profit at the expense of ethics and transparency I am clearly not a supporter.

What a stress Bruce County and the Municipality of Northern Bruce are inflicting on locals and cottagers! The NBP proposed hazards and comprehensive zoning bylaws have no business being approved! If NBP Council approves this official plan then they need to compensate all affected landowners! We cannot allow expropriation without compensation. The mapping completed by the conservation authority is a joke and doesn't even come close to being ACCURATE! I cannot believe that Bruce County and NBP Council have not yet reached out to inform and consult with individual land owners that have property affected by EH & PSW. Putting the onus on the landowner to consult with them and if the uninformed landowner does not it is assumed they have no objection to the approval of the official plan. What a shame! And what's the rush?

We don't need restrictions on our property

This plan takes away the freedom and rights of property owners and is in fact demonstrating the failures of the Canadian government, where by a few officials dictate the rules for the majority without listening to the majority. Clearly, a direct assault on the very principles of the democratic system this country was founded upon. It is understood by all that the peninsula is a UNESCO world biosphere and as such many property owners respect the area. Imposing undo hardship on property owners seeking to improve or maintain waterfront properties among others is counter productive and actually threatens the peninsulas delicate environment. Better maintained and used properties leave less of an environmental footprint than decaying structures. If the proposed zoning plan passes, the township is legally obliged to pay the equity lost in the properties based on property value prior to the adoption of the bill, for every property owner effected. deadline for payment from the township is required within one year of the zoning by-law change.

I have attended many of the open houses and council meetings since July 2017, and have come away each time incredibly dismayed by the lack of concern County and Municipal staff seem to feel about the impact the proposed zoning changes will have on the residents of NBP. I have confirmed with a real estate agent, a former Director of the adjudication team at a major lender, and our insurance broker that the proposed zoning changes for our property will significantly decrease the property value and jeopardize our ability to secure financing and insurance. And we are not alone. Many of the properties on NBP will be similarly impacted. I’m sorry, but I just can’t seem to take comfort in the fact that I will still be able to “walk on it, sit on it and cross country ski on it”. Our life savings and plans for the future are being sacrificed by staff and council for maps that they themselves have admitted are not even accurate. It’s absolutely appalling and needs to stop now.

I oppose the passing of this Official Plan. More study and consultation is required. This should not be done in the winter when many property owners are not here

I disagree with this Official Plan. Stop! Rethink! Who are the staff who recommend adoption on February 20th? This is too soon.

Council should not be approving a new Official Plan until complete and accurate mapping is acquired and approved. Council should also not be approving this Plan until the new council is elected.

I do not agree with the proposed changes to the bylaws of the MNBP. I have contacted every member of council on multiple occasions by telephone, email and hand delivered mail asking several fundamental questions and respectfully requested a written response from said council. To date I am still awaiting this requested reply. Now I would like to know WHY this request is so obviously being ignored.

I think this whole matter is incredibly disorganized. I do not have my own home computor (I have to use the computor at work) I do not do facebook. Luckily I have neighbours at the cottage that keep me informed. I don"t know how you plan on basically taking people's property away without directly informing residents or property owners individually. My parents bought the property in 1968 and got all the building permits when they built I believe, in 1972. There was hight water in the fall of 1986 and the next spring all the property owners started building retaining walls and that was basically to protect the lots(trees) not so much the cottages. They say the red hazard line is not accurate then why have something that is inaccurate on a map?
