Stop the NBP Proposed Hazards and Comprehensive Zoning By-Laws

I have been a property owner in the Bruce for 61 years and have never encountered a council so disinterested in the concerns of the taxpayer, nor more willing to pass rules that will so seriously hurt the property owner. I have already expressed my opposition to these by-law changes, and wish to confirm my opposition in this petition. Shame on you all!

I do not agree with how the Municipality is handling this situation.

I am very concerned as to these proposed changes and the impact they will have on property owners. It would seem that Council would like the constituents to accept these changes in good faith without full disclosure as to the impact on property values and future regulatory consequences. There needs to be more investigation and transparency in this matter. I would hope our Council would strive for due diligence and not simply acquiesce to Provincial initiatives that are often out of touch with rural Ontario interests

I am concerned that the new bylaw etc may affect my lake front property.

We need to stop and rethink what we really need to fix and what we don’t. Existing vacant lots and homes must be grandfathered so property values are not diminished in any way.

Where is the investigation into the zoning changes... all mapping has been done via satellite. Complaints about changes have not been followed up. I believe this has been created in haste and a better investigation needs to be completed before making any changes.

I believe all aspects of change need to be fully understood and a cost to the owner fully explored before any changes to zoning. It should nopt be off the cuff as this obviously has been done. where is the investigation into each zone change apart from satellite mapping?

As owners of two properties in Pike Bay we would like to advise we oppose the zoning changes.

It is glaringly obvious that Council has ignored, and continues to ignore, the will of the property owners. I personally, and along with my fellow property owners, urge Council to make the just decision and vote against any and all changes to the Municipal By-Laws. As you are well aware, all decisions have consequences!

The only logical move at this time is for the Council to refuse to go forward with the proposed By-Laws and Mapping. All residents must be fully informed of any changes and the implications to their personal property in a manner that is clear and easy to understand. To date this has not happened. A fully transparent process which involves the public is required. Consideration needs to be given to home owners who followed due process when building and whose property value and ability to improve their homes is being put into question. As has been suggested there is a larger picture here: the impact of tourism and cottage rentals on the environment. Tax payers have been very clear in voicing their opinion. Council must listen, must dismiss the present recommendations and embrace the opportunity to work together with all residents to develop a plan which preserves and includes a future vision for, the Bruce. A plan that protects its citizen's rights and investments.

This seems to be part of a war on rural Ontario dwellers. This bylaw is being considered under pressure from the provincial Liberal government, Our Municipal council has the leeway to amend the bylaws to suit our unique community situations. So far it seems that our council and municipal bureaucrats are showing that they are too afraid to stand up to the province. Please council, show some courage.

It makes me sad to think that after saving all those years to buy a place to enjoy our retirement, we are spending all our time fighting to protect what we worked so hard to obtain. We'd rather be enjoying the Bruce. Please vote no!

Wet lands are important to our community, no one is arguing that aspect but the new zoning changes have not been properly investigated and have been assumed mostly via satellite mapping, that in it self is unacceptable. As well little consideration as to the existing property owners relationship with adjoining lands under review have been put forward as to property to property investigation. We for one asked for a review at the very first public meeting and it has not been investigated as of yet or has the request been addressed. There are to many unanswered questions on how these changes will effect the land owners going into the future when their property require upgrades to keep current with the status quo we have in place now, never mind some moving target yet to be established. If the county or municipality wish to introduce new assessment mandates on existing property owners then the same should budget to support the costs the mandates will have on existing property owners.

The new zoning bylaw and hazard mapping proposals set a dangerous precedent for the rights of property owners and significantly alter and reduce our rights as tax paying citizens. I strongly object to these changes to the bylaw as our property values will be adversely afffected.. As a property owner in Tobermory for 44 years, I have witnessed a huge change in the promotion of tourism in this area and THAT is the issue that should be addressed to protect the environment, not tampering with peoples' rightful and legal enjoyment of their own property.

I object the new zoning bylaw. If MNBP council believe they represent the majority of constituents by passing it in its present form, let the voters decide in next year's Municipal election.

Seems to me they are doing this while a lot of people are not around to voice their opinions. Rather underhanded.

The municipality let our cottagebe built at its present location. It should be exempt from these changes

I strongly disagree with the the new comprehensive zoning by-law and the hazard mapping, It certainly is not in the best interest of the property owners, I would think the near half a million visitors per year and their transportation have been by far more damaging to the fragile ecosystem on the NBP than the people that love, take care of and actually live there.
