Stop the NBP Proposed Hazards and Comprehensive Zoning By-Laws

More time is required to find solutions that will work for property owners and the powers to be.

I strongly oppose the proposed bylaw changes. As a property owner in Tobermory, the hazards that would be placed on neighboring properties devalues ALL nearby properties. These changes will affect landowners’ ability to maintain financing of their homes and secure insurance. These changes will impose undue financial hardship on your constituents WITHOUT clear evidence of any environmental merit. If these changes go through, expect that a vast majority of NBP property owners will work tirelessly to ensure none of the current council members are re-elected.

I object to the entire by-laws. Stop it in its tracks.

As a resident and property owner in Lions Head I object to the comprehensive zoning by-law and hazard mapping. My property is now in the erosion hazard zone, where as 3 years ago when I bought my property there were no hazards whatsoever! Having a erosion hazard attached to my property will result is a decrease in my properyy value and negatively impact saleability of said property. Additionally our insurer may increase our insurance rates based on this change.

I strongly object to the proposed bylaw and its changes to hazards and zoning in the NBP. We have owned property on NBP since 1986 when lake levels were considerably higher than now. Council has no right to potentially infringe upon property rights of individuals.

The dead of winter is not the time to pass a zoning plan which will have such encompassing, adverse effects on many ratepayers who are not here in The Bruce in this season

We have owned this property since 1948. No flooding so far. 1984/85 the water level came to the road but the road was built up. Not a chance of flooding again. If this goes through then our taxes go down as our homes won't be worth much. Also if our council votes yes then they will not be elected again. Can't you just leave well enough alone.

I do not agree with the comprehensive zoning bylaw in its current state. City council should be getting back to the table and starting from scratch a new plan with more public input, and in a more transparent and fair manner. This is their duty to their respective towns, villages, cities.

I do not agree with the comprehensive zoning by law and hazard mapping as my home is now partially in the cliff erosion hazard zone. If this plan is adopted it could negatively impact my property value and ability to sell in the future. I strongly object.

I oppose the comprehensive zoning changes. They devalue property and cause financial hardship.

I and our entire family oppose the changes outlined in N.B.P. council new BY- Laws that are being proposed. I will do my best to help eliminate the entire counsel in the next multiple election and have you replaced by people that will represent the tax payers in a fair and just manner.

Accepting this proposal is going directly against the people that put council in to represent the taxpayers. If this goes through you can be sure the people will remember this when it is time to vote for a new council. Enjoy your last term in council. Forget the damn beurocrats and represent the people.

I oppose the comprehensive zoning changes in its entirety. The municipal council should not be placing restrictions on private ownership of property on the peninsula. This devalues the property and places a financial hardship on the owner. We live on Miller Lake and the 10 m setback makes no sense. I spoke with Mr Van Dorp and he explained that it was for esthetic reasons. What does this have to do with the environment???

The municipal elected representatives appear to not representing their electorate above all else. As I have read and followed the development of this zoning bylaw, I am at a loss to understand why they are do this. Please STOP. Do the right thing as this resolution asks.
