Second I have respect for the royals but don't feel this is the correct way to show it, we would just be loosing another part of our heritage. Should maryport people not have been consulted before this was put forward?

I am a Royalist but...Go name some bridge after him. Why have they decided the Fairy Path should be named after him .Prince Philip wasn't a Fairy. Actually he was a Navy Man so something ti do eith the Sea would be more apt, if we had to name anything at all after him.

I grew up playing, hiding, and making memories on this fairy path. It has always been and always will be know as the fairy path. Local people have gone out of their way, spent their own time and money to carry on theses memories for the next generation it will be a great shame to change it

Name Should be kept for the towns history , nothing against prince Philip but surely the voice of the town and surrounding area should be taken in to consideration. Support local causes make a community stand strong , side by side .

Why change the name of this magical path that our town loves so much. Create a new trail or path to be named after the Duke or a garden along the prom or develop the old roller skatink rink. Shows how out of touch with local feeling our councillors are.

I am all for something to commemorate HRH Prince Philip, but it should be something new, made for that purpose. Changing the name of the path that has always been the ‘fairy path’ means it would never be named after him by the people anyway! Leave it as it is!
